HI Room I need your help

Ive been trying to set up my pickups and nothing sounds right

I have adjusted them to factory specs (3/32quot;) on the bridge and levelled the neck with it

However Im stuck as to how to adjust the pole piece height, where do you start from? are they supposed to be flush with the top of the pickup and does it matter what direction the screws face?

Thanks for your help

Keep playing with the adjustment. BTW what kind of guitar do you have?

As for the screws, they should follow the contour of the neck (arch). Dan Erlwine's book suggests doing this and leaving the screw slots in a criss-cross pattern. (e.g. The first two forming a quot;Vquot; shape with the next two forming an upside down quot;Vquot; shape, etc.)

Thanks for the answer

I have an epiphone sg400

What i really need to know is where is a good starting place for the pole piece height?

is it best to lower them until the slot where the screwdriver fits is flush with the pickup itself? and then adjust from there?

the trouble is is that ive bought a second hand pickup and the pole pieces werent level and i want to completely start from scratch
