My dad has a VOX AC-30 and i love the sound of my epiphone lesp paul through it but i find the eq to hard to use and not enough drive can be obtained (pedasl SUCK most of the time)
I was thinking of getting an ORANGE AD-30TC 212
which has 2 channels and a better EQ (can control the mids)
but i have heard u cannot get a loud clean sound on it (IT BREAKUPS TOO EASY)
can anyone help because i love that VOX clean sound but it is a bit muddy with humbuckers (the mids need controlling)

The Orange AD series is often described as being Voxish, but they are really pretty unique, perhaps somewhere between Vox and Marshall. They have a different mid-range character than Vox. Matchless and Bad Cat, among others, would be closer to a Vox. I haven't heard much mud from the Vox and Vox clones I've heard, and proper use of the Cut control might help brighten things up. Your pickups might also be responsible for some muddiness -- I know the Gibson 490R can get muddy sounding in a hurry.

I like the Orange AD series -- I own an AD15 now, although I am thinking of selling it since I bought a Bad Cat Cub. I think a 30 watt AD model should have some decent clean headroom, depending on how loud you play of course. Check the Orange amp forum for more advice, and check out the audio demos of Orange and other amps at the following site:

Well the pickups are only epiphone ones (soon to be change to duncan 59's) it is mainly with overdirve BOSS SD-1 it is either too bassy or too harsh and i would like to have control of the mids.
Between a VOX and a MARSHALL hey makes me way more interested. I LOVE the VOX's clean sound and dirty they are nice too but i would like a bit more versitility than a vox but not fall into the quot;SOUND LIKE EVERYONE ELSEquot; category.

I had an Epiphone LP that played awesome but sounded like a dull thud. I replaced the stock pickups with a 59 bridge and a Dimarzio Super II in the neck and it was like I had bought a different guitar. You could hear every note in a chord, leads sounded full and clear. What a combo! Later I put Dimarzio super distortion humbuckers in it and got great heavy metal (if that's what you like) tones. That guitar responds very well to quality pickups. Can the stockers. They are horrible. I thought they were okay until I a/b'd them with my Gibson Les Paul with Antiquities.

Put a treble booster in front of it. It only boosts natural signals of your guitar. The result will be a really smooth, clear overdrive. You'll get the gain you need, plus you can back off the volume on your guitar to get clear, chimey Vox sounds.

The FACT is that the VOX is my dad's and i am really looking for a good amp like it but cheaper (I have a Fender Pro Junior but that fails inconparison to the VOX epscially driven). At the moment i barely have enough money to get new pickups so i am saving up for this amp. If i had the money i would probably buy a VOX AC-30 plus a treble booster plus a fuzz pedal plus a lot of other things and i would try various set up but at the moment i don't.
But THANKS for the treble booster idea anyway.
I was originally going for a LANEY VC-30 but found more info on the orange and thought it would be worth the extra money (even if i do have to wait twice as long i still have my dad's VOX to mess around with).

Also me musical influences are pretty vintage (the beatles, thin lizzy, black sabbath, pink floyd, old U2, the smiths, the police, G 'n' R, david bowie (ZIGGY STARDUST ERA) etc) but i also like some newer stuff like The Offspring, Metallica, The Living End, The Killers. But i am more classic rock orientated.

Anyone got anymore info about the Orange AD-30TC cos it would be much appreciated

Well, back to basics...ORANGE = Bog's Dollocks

If it's orange, and it has valves in it, and you want a vintage crunch sound with reasonable cleans, buy it. Nuff said, IMO!

Because Of Price Issues I have decided to go for the Laney VC-30 212 what do people think
