The big brother to the blues amp thread - which y'all pickin?

Mine's the Vox AC30 - Brit rock never sounded better...

Marshall JCM800 2204 here

DAMN, i want one, and i need one... but i can't find one for sale

I will vote the easy and obvious: Marshall, Plexi or JCM 800.

Gotta agree with you buddy, I too love that medium gain brit-rock sorta stuff.

Marshalls kick too, but Vox has the cleans to go along with that crunchy overdrive (that amp really can be the best of both worlds). If I could have only one vintage amp, it would be a mint JMI era AC-30X.

Marshall Plexi,Metal Faced 1959/1987 and the 2203/2204 JCM 800 series..Lots of copies, but these are the mainstays!

I'm the lucky owner of an AC30TB :fing25: I've found my amp for years to come.

You can eliminate everything but the first choice listed in your poll...nothing else is pertinent....

Of course I voted Marshall, but I've had lots of good amps from other manufcturers....If I had to buy something different (meaning, not a Marshal or a model or boutique version of one)...prolly a Mesa Stiletto...

oh..ooops...guess thats a Marshall too

Maybe an Orange? uhmmm..thats just a drier crunchier Marshall

VHT? ...even drier super high gain marshall

Oh nevermind...

I've never understood the VOX allure (or the boutiques designed around them)...I love to HEAR them on a recording or someone else playing them...but whenever I plug in , it's just not quot;therequot; for me....they are quot;sweetquot; sounding amps...but they don't have..something...something is missing...not sure what...*too* sweet maybe, not agreesive enough (and I'm not talking VHT type agressiveness here).

Marshall, the classic Marshall tone..

At least half the amps on that list I haven't even tried! I've owned several Marshalls over the years (currently a Silver Jubilee) and see no reason why Marshall shouldn't remain my choice for ROCK.

Nothing beats a good ol' Marshall JCM800 2203 for all out balls to the walls RAWK! The only reason I don't have one is because they've increased a little bit in value and I'm too stubborn to pay it, but stay tuned I might have one shortly . That is if my new boutique amp won't blow me away

No brainer for me, Marshall. 1987/1959 Plexi's, JCM800 2203/2204, JCM900 2100/2500 MkIII's.

The Holy Grail I'm currently wishing for is a Germino.

Marshall = Rock amp; Roll

PERIOD!!!
That said, if I had my choice of any listed, I'd take a Vox AC30......
I just loves me some EL84s

Hands down, no questions asked: Marshall 1959, 4x EL34, non-master volume.

Marshall - 2203 either later-era JMP (pretier) or JCM800. But since them's too damn loud, my DIY 18-Watter approximation sounds as good or better. An y way you look at it - it's Marshall.

No Cornford?

Even worse, no Soldano!!!!!

WHO?

Mesa/Boogie!

Rock On!

Hard to beat the sound that eminates from a SLP or Plexi.

May not be high-gain, and they may not have cleans, but quot;that sound', yeah, they got it.
