Hi All,
I'm looking a buying one of these Charvel 750XL's. Mainly because they have a les paul scale amp; a set neck. Fantastic stuff for me since I like the way les paul's sound, but I've never liked the body ergonomics. (no body contour's on the back or for your picking forearm).
I know it won't sound excatly the same, but it the closest I've seen to having the comfort features of a strat with a chunky LP tone.
The only thing that puts me off a little is the toothpaste logo, but they have some nice stuff like, mahogany body and maple top, schaller trem.
I've read some cool things on these guitars over at JCF however they may be a little biased so, are there any owners or guys who have played one of these.
Wonderful guitars. Just as good (quality wise) as the USA Jacsons of the period. THe body is thicker than on the later Soloist Archtop Professional, and the tone is quot;deeperquot;, more Les Paulish.
BTW, if you see one advertised as quot;newquot;, the seller is either lying or misinformed, these havent been produced in 15 years
Thats a sweet Charvel!!! You are giving me Gas!!!!!
Very nice guitars.
I wouldn't mind one of those myself.

Zerb, what kind of trem/locknut do they have? What is a good price for one?
I´m pretty shure that all toothpaste charvels had schaller trems
Not all, but most quot;toothpastequot; Charvels had Schaller Trems, JT-590 is the Jackson Part Number. As far as prices go: No idea, I don´t usually play imports and don´t tend to keep track of prices
The one in the pic looks to be a Floyd II. Whether it's a Schaller Floyd II or the Asian copy can't tell till you look at it up close. The Schaller will have quot;Made by Schallerquot; stamp by the arm socket.

Jackson doesn´t use the cheap copies, other than todays JT-580 and it´s predecessors, especially not on a guitar costing upside of 1500$ (back then).
I can assure you, if it´s a 750XL (and that´s what it looks to be), it´s a Schaller
Thx Zerberus.
I know they are pretty rare due to fact they were only made for a year or so around 1990.
