How do I correct the ohm mismatch when replacing speakers

for example my deville says it runs a 2/4 ohms, and I might get a 8ohm 15quot; speaker, or 2 8ohm 12quot; speakers. I think with the 2 speaker situation might be easy, but is there any way to put a Big Ben 15'' 8 ohm speaker in my deville?

You can't really - not unless your amp has a switch or some way so you can match the impedence of the output transformer to the speaker.

Does your Deville have two 8 0hm speakers in it now? It it does, it wants to see a 4 ohm load and will put out maximum power with a 4 ohm load and nothing else.

im pulling something similar to this. If you're willing to get a new OT, then you can match this perfectly.

I bought a tweed bassman OT with 4, 8, and 16 ohm taps. I'm going to wire the 4 ohm tap to the ext speaker out, and the 8 ohm tap to the spkr out on my blonde bandmaster. This way i could use my 15quot; jbl d130f 8 ohm speaker at max efficiency.
