Listen to it, can you hear the sustain?
Well you would if it was playing!

Whew!
It's also been refretted...without binding the fret ends. It is really even a Gibson anymore?
That guitar has some serious vibe going on! I like it...a lot!
Phhht!
I could get a brand new one for a whole lot less, let alone an old dunger!
j/k
quot;don't touch itquot;
i wasn't going to.
quot;well, don't pointquot;
can i look at it?
quot;noquot;
uh-oh, don't even get me started on the spinal tap quotes!
I LOVE that guitar. Perfect fade.
I'm going to go through my change jar and clean out the couch and pick that sucka up!!!
BTW- 200k is going to be a BARGAIN in 3 years. You think I'm kidding.

it's sad but 200k is a bargain now. a local one b/t two big collectors is going in the $280,000 to $300,000 range.
stupid people LOL

i think i would put a floyd on it if i bought it
What kind of tailpiece was it originally fitted with? Is that a lyre one or a bigsby? It's so crazy how those old bursts fade differently. Definately the holy grail guitar for me. I bought that quot;Beauty of the Burstquot; book, but I can't look at it because I get pissed that I'll never be able to own one!!!! lol If I ever win the lotto or some other form of large cash payment I AM buying a '58-'60 'burst.

Seriously, if these go for 200K, what do the ones that are immaculate go for? A mil?
currently.. around 350k
in 4 years the will reach the 500k mark when the 50th anniversary of the 59 burst hits
It's just wire and wood!!!!
I still want one.
I'd like one, but I wouldn't pay $200k for one other than as an investment. I don't see how the guitar is so special compared to one that could be built by a top class luthier today making a '59 replica with NOS wood and PAF's. I think you're mostly paying there for the fact there aren't a lot of them around and the assosication with who's played them.
personally, i honestly cant see how this guitar is that much better than new ones....

You're kidding right? Please tell me you're joking...
Doing something like that to a rare guitar in great shape is a crime, you're $200K axe is now worth about $20K but that's a whole other thing.
Personally, I just don't see the point in spending THAT much money on an instrument. If I had $200-300K kicking around I'd buy a house!
hey, it's better than to put a bigsby on it
if floyds were around in the 60's, i wonder how many burst LP's would have floyds on?
