Hey guys. I installed a Dimebucker in the bridge position of my Dean Evo. First time i wired it up, it was out of phase with the stock neck pickup, so I swapped the green with the black wire. Right now, its red and white together, bare and black to ground, and green to hot.
The output about the same as my Dimarzio Tone Zones, maybe even less. But, it has a harsh, grinding quot;stringyquot; quality that I usually associate with single coils. Im pretty sure the wiring is correct.
What other factors could attribute to this? Thanks in advance.
hmmmmmmm interesting, I've heard a clip by xssive with a dimebucker in the bridge of a strat that was super thick...
the one i had sounded great but it was wired red an white together and tapped off then bare and green together grounded to the back of the pot. then the black wire to the terminal
How far off of the strings do you have it set? You want it about 3/32quot; off.
Rob is right on the distance. I find I like 3/32quot; for most bridge pickups in an LP these days. Also, take another close look at your wiring.
Ok, ill be sure to check all those things. Thanks guys
Tap the rails with a screw driver and see if you can hear the sound.
Im a dimarzio fan. Sorry. I have a tone zone in my ibanez RG and it is very fat, it has awesome harmonics, and its jus... wow. Anyway, Ive listened to pantera and dimebag likes that tight, aggressive bright tone, that the dimebucker gives. I dont... it offers quot;lessquot; Thin, tight, is quot;Lessquot;.. fat.. is quot;morequot; dark isnt as quot;outquot; there.. bright.. is quot;out therequot;. thats my tone... ALDER AND A TONE ZONE
On the mystery wood guitar I'm using(mahogony I think) I usually find the dime a little thinner than other most humbuckers. IMO the dime is more suited for a low tuned guitar. Unlike some humbuckers that muddy up a little at low tuning, the dime stays tight and clear. I never got as thick of a tone than xssive.
