I'm trying to decide on a bridge pickup, and I've narrowed it down to the Custom and the Full Shred. I don't want a Distortion, because every teenager buys a distortion type pickup to churn out too-much-output, too-heavy metal tones. And a JB is... well, it's a JB. I don't want a JB

Stuff I (try to) play: early megadeth/metallica, iron maiden, and such. Basically, thrash metal, a touch of death metal, and heavy/classic metal.

I like to have tone in my distortion... I've weaned myself off zero mids lately :P

Anyway, I'd appreciate people's feedback on this. Thanks.

If you play thrash metal you would probably be better off buying the full shred. The custom is a great pickup but the full shred was basically made for 80's rock/metal. Also if you might want to check out the screaming demon. The demon (like the full shred) is extremely articulate and would work for heavy distortion settings.

For What You Described I Would Have To Say Custom (and You Can Always
Swap The Magnet And Try The C5 And Cc) Just My .02 Cents. Chris

They are 2 of my favorite duncan pickups. I would say that the Full Shred might be better for you if you are looking for more metal stuff and the custom will be better if you are looking for more of a classic vibe. The interesting thing is this, I think the Full Shred is similar to the custom 5 with more of a quot;Shredquot; to it. I have tried them back to back in the same guitar with the same settings and they were in the neighborhood. I wouldnt doubt if it is a Custom 5 with allen heads in it.
