Hi guys,
I just did some stuff at Tower Mastering, and thought I'd get some input from you. The first 2 clips demo the BSM OR Treble amp; Bass Booster. I used the Tele and the Bogner. The next 4 clips are for the poll (od/fuzz 1 through 4). I play the same phrase with 4 different od/fuzz boxes to try some different tones.

I'LL BE BACK LATER TO TELL WHICH WAS WHICH.....
BTW, you can click on quot;Lyrics/Storyquot; to get more info on most of these.

I think the sample 3 was best, it just sounded fatter and more harmonically rich

I like four the best I think . . . it sounds the sweetest to me . . .
actually, it was a bit tough to pick ... they all sounded pretty good, and the differences were subtle to me
I'm kind of amazed that you slide in standard tuning!
I liked your straight tone (the non-slide playing) on the second clip a lot, too
1-4 was the ones I liked best on the setup you chosed.
2 was too muffled for me, 3 was nothing but compression nah but very compressed.
tough choice ... i'd be happy to have last pick as my tone
i think #4 is my fav and 2 is my least fav ...
were thay all encoded to mp3 at the same rate?
cheers

I liked the first one the best, with the fourth as a close second.

t4dYeah, I think they were all done at the same rate. Martin did the engineering, but it was all done in just a few minutes, so I wouldn't expect any differences. Seems like the soundclick encoding adds some raspy noise in there, which maybe isn't too surprising since its squishing an MP3, which is already a pretty squished type of medium.

3 amp; 4 cleaner with nice sustain.
Howdy!
Here's the quot;which is whichquot; part:
1-BSM OR with the tone set at noon
2-Fulltone '69 volume @ 3 o'clock bias @ 1 o'clock contour @ full up fuzz @ 3 o'clock
3-Fulltone Soul-Bender volume @ 9 o'clock tone @ full fuzz @ full
4-Lovepedal Eternity volume @ 10-11 o'clock treble @ noon clip @ 1 o'clock This one uses the quot;fat chipquot; IC.
I've been wanting to get 2 unique tones. One is bright and silky, and the other is heavier, more gainy and warmer. To me 1 annd 4 do great (BSM and Lovepedal). The other 2 are really good as well, but I think they do better for single note leads rather than slide. Slide needs a little bite on the high end, with some singing sustain. The Homebrew CPR helps considerably with the sustain being very transparent, and carrying that sustain way on out there without any noise involved. That's what 1 and 4 have to offer. But, that's just my preference, my ears, etc.
Thanks for checking those out! I appreciate your opinions.

Randy,
I couldn't access the clips until now. I listened to them before reading the answers -- honest! Anyway, I preferred #1 and #2, with #4 running very close to #2. I really did not care for #3. I think #1 let the Tele tone come through, whereas the other 3 could have been just about any beefy kind of bridge pickup.
Now after reading the answers, my dislike for #3 is consistent with my own test drive of the Soulbender, which I really did not like. I still haven't tried the '69, but it sounds like I need to do so. It sounds like you like the CPR, which is good to hear -- another pedal I need to check out more thoroughly.
Thanks for sharing the clips and the poll.
Bob
Sure thing!
The Soul-Bender's got a ton of gain. The other 3 are a little less gainy, and let the guitar shine through more. The '69 is a great fuzz, and its really adjustable. The settings that I used are less fuzzy and more beefy than others, but I think its great to have it on my board. The '69 can do most of what the Soul-Bender can do, and cleans up much better. Its worth checking into.
For me, I think the BSM amp; Eternity capture the quot;light amp; darkquot; type of tone spectrum that I wanted, and they'll be the mainstay of the od/fuzz options.
Thanks again for listening!
Randy
Lol even when I don't know it I don't like Fulltone stuff
Dunno never liked any of the various drives and fuzz's he made.
I like his Vibe and the tremolo.
I'm thinking a Lovepedal Wall of Noise would be an interesting one to have. The clips are pretty scary!
