I'm about to pull the trigger and order the trem block for my strat, but was wondering if it is really worth $60 more for the extras like stainless screws, trem arm and new saddles. Seems to me that it's quite a bit of money for not much more. Are the saddles really all that better than the stock ones? Or is replacing the block alone going to give me the most results for richer tone and more sustain.

On another note, I was playing my buddy's HWY1 strat today and noticed how much bigger the trem block was and how much fuller the tone was. I know that it is a combination of the thin finish the trem block, but WOW, what a difference. Anyone know what the resistance of the stock Fender pups are for the HWY1's they seemed to have a bit more output than the Ant's in mine? But then that may have everything to do with the block issue.

The HW1 trem block is fullsize but is still not so great metal...the difference between your MIM and the HW1 is just as big as the difference between say the HW1 and the Callaham! Also, IMO the extra cash is worth getting the SS screws and the saddles...Callaham saddles are great for guys that actually use the trem on a Strat seeing that they do not cause string hang ups. Now that they are doing saddles for a MIM Trem im gonna get the full kit for my MIM body...killer stuff!

Yeah, it's definetely worth it. The trem unit on a Strat is key when considering overall sustain and tone.

I have a related question: What's the deal with the cryogenically frozen pots and electronics Callaham sells? What's the supposed advantage to these frozen electronics? Does it simulate the effects of age for vintage sounds, or... what?

Thanks guys! I don't know what the deal is with the pots though, but I wouldn't think that they would put out hockey gear with the great rep that they have.

Ok since we're on the subject...on the Callaham Upgrade for US Strats, if I get the bridge only, will it match up with my chrome Fender hardware, or will it look different (like a bluer hue)? The only reason I ask is that I want to know if I need to get the jack cup and the whole deal.
