I have two strats. One with a JB and Jazz in it, the other with a Super Distortion and PAF. Ive always noticed the the Super D not as Thick as the JB but it is more crunchy than it. Someone on here before said that is wrong and I might have something wired wrong. Is he right or am i right? Also on my strat with the Super D I have original strat saddles while the strat with the JB set in it has the graph tech saddles which ive heard gives it a darker tone.

Super Distortions sound pretty thick to me when playing chords but rather thin during solos on strats and SG's. I don't think either of you is right, it's hard to compare those two.

My Super Distortion is mud city. I can't imagine anybody thinking it's thin sounding. Maybe in a strat, but I don't think so. Damn, I've gotta get rid of that thing and get me a CC.

I think that was me that said something could be wired wrong. I've never had a Super Distortion be thinner/brighter than a JB. They're very different pickups. On most guitars the SD is very warm, fat, and chunky...lots of bottom end and mids. The JB is brighter with a spike in the upper mids and a good amount of treble.

Both are very good pickups but give very different sounds.
