After using solid states for ever, i am thinking of trying a tube amp, but i would need it to have these features:
1. Around 50 watts of power(i use a 120 SS combo so i want something just as loud, and i have never gone above 8 on it)
2. 3 channels or 2 gain stages one which is a metal-ish voiced one with lots of distortion(think of metal-ized fuzz) and a more traditional gain channel. Also it must have 2 different volumes for the gain stages.
3. It can be either a combo or a head. If its a combo i would prefer 2xVintage 30s to be in it(or something very similar) and it has to have an extention cab output at 4 ohms. If its a head it has to be able to handle 4 ohm as well.4. Onboard reverb
5. Under a $1000 bucks
Thanks.
3 channels under $1k?
I seriously doubt you'll find anything like that.Try a used peavey 5150.

B-52 makes a couple actually, but i am just looking for options.
Maybe a XXX by Peavey? I had a 1x12 version which sounded pretty good for the price I paid.

I completely frogot about the XXX, That'd be perfect.
forget all that, find yourself a used peavey ultra plus head (120w 6l6) and thank me later hehe. 3 channels with a footswitch and built in reverb. great cleans nice grit and then some killer metal tone and everything b/t. it's the amp that the XXX was based off and in my opinion sounds better than the XXX. i don't know what they changed or why they changed it but the ultra plus is a killer killer amp for the buck. you can only get them used now though. it's one amp i own that i'll never sell of mine.

-Mike 1000000!
This is the best advise you will get! The Peavey Ultras are gain monsters and they do have 3 channels, and they sell all the time for way less than $1000.00...
HERE YA' GO:

I think the Marshall TSL 601 can be found for about 1000...
Thanks for all the responses
After doing a bit more research i found a couple more that id like some opinions on,
B-52 ST-60a
B-52 AT-100
B-52 ST-6012
Ashdown 60 watt Fallen Angel(there seeems to be reliability problems with it, but i would like more opinions)
Randall RH 50t
Randall RM100 MTS
Anyone played one of these? Heard one? Looked at one? All opinion are very much appreciated.
So far to me it looks like either the Peavey Triple XXX 2-12 combo, Peavey Ultra Lead or the Mesa F-50, but i want plenty o' options.
Thanks again
Mesa F-50
Under a $1000 bucks
Please don't tell me that you Yanks can get an F-50 for under $1000. I will actually die of jealously!
I enquired the F-30 for about 850 bucks. So for the F-50 it could prolly be about 1200 - 1300. And those are pre-owned.
I'm for the triple X Peavey combo

Yup, they LIST for 1099(combo) and 999(head), so I think that counts
But got mine for 845 shipped
i'd say:
mesa f series
peavey xxx, jsx, ultra , 5150/6505, 5150 II/6505
Oh, and the mesa F series amps are amazingly versitle and AWESOME overall amps!!!
Used Mesa Single Recto.
