Just got a message from a buddy who is looking to move a R6....P-90's....

Now I LOVE P-90s....and prolly would keep the guitar that way..however, I've heard you can drop in a ring and mini's into the p-90 slot w/out routing?? I've been missing my deluxe and this seems to be a good way to try both pups out and then make a decision on what I prefer (for the time being anyway )

As I recall, and I haven't owned a Deluxe w/ minis in over 10 years, the mini assembly should mount to the quot;outsidequot; holes at the bottom of the pickup rout. The RI will probably not have those holes.

Yes, you will only have to drill a couple of scre holes for the rings. The minis will drop right in without modification. Will you be using Gibson minis? if you do, they come with the ring installed. If not, you can get the rings here....

EDIT: and yes Butch I would use the Gibson minis they currently use in the MF LPD....I know most hardcore quot;miniquot; guys don't care for them compared to the FB mini's but I prefer them...bit higher output and more full size humbucker like...

I like them better too... The newer LPD's have a metal plate in each pickup cavity for a more machined screw hole...

I have a Les Paul Deluxe and a bunch of Mini Humbuckers... I have The original Mini's from the Deluxe, Duncan Mini's, and new Gibson Reissue mini's..... i like them all.... I too have been thinking if i can find a reissue LP Deluxe i could always drop a set of Minis in a P90 LP.... Good luck...

I always wondered what that little insert for the pickup screws is on my LP Deluxe.. It's threaded and is inserted in some holes drilled in the bottom of the rout.. Wonder if Gibson carries replacements?
