Hi there guys, Just have a simple inquiry to make. How can I check if a single coil
pickup is RWRP? I've mighty mite pickups on my Cort G250 and I was to
know if my middle pickup is rwrp. I wish to purchase a Vintage Rails
for my neck pu and swap my current neck pu (SSL-1) to my middel pu
position. I'm not sure if my middle stock PU is RWRP and I fear I may
sacrifice that if I put my non-rwrp SSL-1 into the middle slot. I am aware that it affects the 2 / 4 position for hum cancelling but
I've heard that for non-rwrp middle pickups, there is still an extend
of hum cancelling as the output is much lower. Is there really a significant difference between using rwrp middle
pickups and non rwrp? Thanks
yes there is a difference, and it is how resistant to hum the guitar will be in the 2 amp; 4 positions.
is the guitar quiet in the #2 position right now? if so than it is rw/rp than the neck pup.
if you put a vintage rails in the neck, ssl-1 in the middle, and a humbucker in the bridge youll get hum in positions 2/3/4 unless you split the bucker in pos 4. when mixing humcancelling pups and non-humcancelling pups you need to split the humcanceling one if you want the two pups to be hum free.
you cant really get three coils to cancel hum.
How can I check if a single coil
pickup is RWRP?,
***See if it will stack directialy on top of the other pickups..and stick together.. if it wont and it repels then there's a good chance its RWRP,
To see if a pickup is out of phase from others.A Needle Ohm meter works great.. simply hook the pickup up to the meter and get an ohm reading then while its still hooked up -- have a friend take a butter Knife ( or if ya got three arms?) LOL-- and stick it on the magnets and then pull it off fast but not too fast... your mission then is to watch which quot;wayquot; the needle jumps... left or right..
they should make the needle jump the same way-- or its out of phase with the others.

I think that works the other way . . . if they repel, they're the same polarity.
(Opposites attract.)
Edit: Ok, I think I see what you're saying, quot;stackquot; them, as opposed to putting them head-to-head. (Top to top.)
