I'm in the early stages of designing a guitar to build for my brother, and could use some pickup suggestions. It'll probably be a Strat body, and he wants to use if for slide. All pickup types (Hum, Single, P-90) are a possibility. I'm looking for something that'll be more on the sweet side (George Harrison, Duane Allman), maybe up to a Joe Walsh kind of sound, but not as raunchy as the George Thorogood tone. Anybody have any ideas?
Thank you.

Harrison might have used Filtertrons, though I'm not sure about that. Allman used PAF's, so some Antiquities would get you there.

BTW, I think Thoroughgood's rough sound comes from his amp selection.

most of my friends that are big slide players use antiquity buckers in the neck. i use a seth neck and pearly gates bridge and a pearly neck with a phat cat in the bridge. the seth/pg is in a strat scale guitar the other is in a guitar similar to an sg. those are my two main slide guitars (as in if i know im gonna be playing silde i grab one of those two.
a vintage type p90 gets a nice slide tone as well
