Is the duncan distortion trem the exact same as the original duncan distortion just with farther spread poles like would a 59 and dd trem sound the same as a 59 and a original distortion

dude, use puctuation marks like . or , or ; so that people can understand u. sometime i wanna help but i cant understand any of your posts.

sry i just dont feel a need but okay haha

There's three different pickups that share that name. (Don't know why SD does that.) Actually, its two pickups, and two versions of one:

1. SH-6 Duncan Distortion
2. TB-6 Tremspaced Duncan Distortion
Those two are the same pickup, one being tremspaced.

3. PA-TB2b Distortion Trembucker
Thats a completely different pickup. It shares pole pieces with the parallel axis models.

okay do they all have the same sound? what is the parrallel axis thing mean?

wait is the parallel axis the one that almost looks like a bass pick up with those huge metal things?

Excuse my in experienced talk

Actually, there's four models.

SH-6 in neck and bridge models, and TB-6 tremspaced. Those are all based on the same hot pickup and have a similar sound.

The PA-TB2b is Duncan's hottest passive pup, with a DC resistance of 21.3k. I imagine it has a different sound. Not sure myself, I've never used it.

The best thing to do would be to look over the specs and descriptions on the humbucker page and on the tone chart.

all duncans are passive right? Or am i way off i just heard some guy say it?

To answer your question, a trem spaced Duncan Distortion will sound just like a regular spaced distortion, just like a trem spaced Duncan 59 will sound like a regular spaced Duncan 59. A Distortion Trembucker will not sound like a regular Distortion. You do not need a trem spaced pickup for the neck.

All of the pickups we are talking about here are passive. Duncan does make some active pickups, they are called Live Wires.

the SH-6 and TB-6 share the same tone.... The PATB-2 Distortion Trembucker is a bit darker, but just as high output... It´s a great pickup, but I think I have it in the wrong guitar (parrticularly bass-heavy Rhoads)

The Parallel Axis pickups look like this...
