A friendly dealer here in town let me test drive a JD Tele bridge pickup with my MIM Tele. I have been using an Antiquity. The JD works better for me. The Antiquity has an output of about 6.5 kohm versus the JD's 8.2 or so. The JD has more output, a bit more twang, its punchier, and works great with a fuzz or treble booster through the Bogner Metropolis. Being an A2 design, its not icepicky. I'm going to go ahead and trade the Antiquity for the JD.

nothing wrong with that

I have both, and they're both great pickups!

to me, the Antiquity bridge actually has pretty good oomph for its output, and the JD is everything you said - both punchy and warm.
Even though I don't play with a lot of gain, I've liked the hotter SD pickups I've tried - more dynamic range, but still clean up nicely.

I use them both. I probably prefer the Antiquity as it's brighter and a little twangier, IMO. The JD is great too though: thicker mids and more output so it's easier to get a fat soloing tone. Only downside is it can be a little darker and less sparkley than the typical tele tone we're used to.

I have a JD in one Tele and Antiquity I flatpoles in two Teles. I prefer the more open sound of the Antiquity. It has sufficient mids and output with better low end than the JD. I tend to run all of them pretty close to the strings to enhance the midrange. Both models work great with my FD2 and respond well to variations in the tone control. So, I prefer the Antiquity I, but my JD isn't going any where. I think the JD has just enough output to match well with a low output HB of Phat Cat at the neck, whereas the Ant is a good match with a Fender-style SC or Firebird-style mini-HB at the neck. I also think you might prefer one Tele lead pup over the other in any particular guitar, so if you like what you hear, go for it.

Good to hear. I just orderd a JD PUP for my Tele. I am going to pair it with a Vintage 54 in the neck. Can't wait to get them in.

all this time and I had no idea the JD was that hot...
