I mean... you just have to saw a hole, put some stuff together and connect the speaker... or am I missing something? Of course, I'm not talking about a sonically perfect cab... just basic stuff

Simple answer,

guitar cab = easy
bass cab = hard

Technical answer,

It is easy to build a guitar cab because it can be one big box with speakers in it.

It's harder to build a bass cab because you need to port it.

You don't NEED to, but you can. Note - Ampeg's classic cabs are all sealed. And yes, porting makes things hard.
