Okay here's were we sit.
The body is molded and scooped out.
That was an s-load of work.Using chisels, knives and glass the back was arched with body bevels and neck contours and a deep set hidden input channel.
Then it was flipped over and the contours were followed on the inside with pockets cut for structure and hardware.
Then the top was scooped to match the body scoops and to follow the planned top curves.
Before I had a chance to do the top arch my daughter found the one hole in the flooring and spilled about a litre of milk on the floor in the living room and it leaked through ono the top wood,(which-ironically-had been moved to keep it safe )
Next the top will be attached and the neck will be installed.
The neck is going to be a 3 piece Honduran Mahagony affair with the neck shaped into the body and a birdseye maple fret board.
I have a 12 fret inlay made of abalone and maple that I'm mailing to Mike to see what he thinks.
That maple has been tinted to look like rocks and the abalone was choosen to look like a morning sky.I counter bore through the back to install a piece of goldleaf to look like the sun coming up and peeking through. On the foreground I painted three crosses in silhouete so the whole thing looks like the hill where the crucifixtion was done.
I hope he likes it.
I'm glad that Mike is going with the set neck because I was starting to wonder about the mounting bolts and the visual flow.

That sounds awesome, make sure to post some pics when you can. On a different note, how are you coming with that Buzz Feiten nut for Floyd guitars, the one that requires no modification to the guitar?

Ryan

Holy crap Batman, that sounds like a totally awesome axe

PLEASE post pics when you can. I'd be really interested in seeing the inside of the body before you put the top on, to say nothing of that neck inlay. Wow!

Chip

can't wait to see pics my friend - throw em up there
sounds like a sweaty job

I'd be interested in seeing that as well!

Thanks guys.
Ryan-my friend still has to order it.It seems that sayingquot;Lets build itquot; dosen't include ordering the metal .
Anyway,we had a laugh and he ordered the metal,(what a monkey)so it's incoming now.
So I'll remind him tommorrow.

sounds cool. i can't wait to see it

SCHAAAAWEEEEEEETTTT!!!!!!

have you decided what shaped headstock yet? it doesn't matter to me man...whatever you think will look the best?! and as far as the back contour...anything from an SRV shape to a 50's Paul shape will be fine...whatever's easiest for you to do...i like them both!

as soon as we nail headshape down...i'll get the sperzels and ship them and the rest of the electronics to ya ( i also still need to get the paul 3-way and a donut from butnut)...that inlay sounds absolutely incredible?! what kind of ideas do you have for a logo on the headstock...now that it's being made, i hadn't thought about it before...do you have something standard that you put on there?!

are we still going with transblack on the back of the body and neck...with the butterscotch birdseye top...?!

i'm getting really stoked about this as it's getting closer to being done!!! i can't even begin to put into words how much i appreciate your hard work JohnJohn...your generosity and the generosity of many others on this forum is making this dream guitar become a reality!

God Bless you all!!!
