I am thinking about buying a new guitar. Right now all I have is the tele. And I was wonder which one everyone liked the best. None of the places here stock either but can order anyone I want. I am thinking either the esp viper 400 or the schecter tempest. Either way I go I will be replaceing the pickups. I want this to be my rock and metal guitar. So which one ya like.

Schecter ALL THE WAY

I say ESP, my Edwards (made by ESP) is flawless...

I have no direct experience with ESP, but I can say I was extremely happy with the two Schecters I owned (C1 Plus). That particular model is very well suited for the role of metal guitar.....nice tone once the Duncans get dropped in it, and extremely playable. B2D summed it well by classifying it as a super strat.

i have little experience with either, but i loved the Esp vintage plus that i played once and i love the Schecter Saturn i have on layaway right now too...i've heard great things from the C1's and i've also heard great things from EC1000's...so basically i don't have a clue as to what to tell ya if you can't play em'...lol!!!

A lot of ESP models gt; Schecter, though.

Don't get the two mixed up, though. ESP = Much better than an LTD.

i will go schecter over ltd and edwards over schecter. esp will be at the top of the pile.

While LTD's come with better appointments (TonePros, real Duncans/EMGs, Earvana nut) Schecter Diamond Series are just better guitars. I tried a couple of LTD's before I bought my C1 Elite and found them all to be inferior. However, if you can find a Japanese-made ESP that you like (or one of their subsidiary brands: Edwards, Navigator, Grassroots), snag it.

i dont like how people go .. they got all that good hardware n gimmicks and **** ..

do some calculation. how much do you thin kthey invest into the wood.. and the actual MANUFACTURING of the guitar? close to none.
i would rather like to buy a guitar in the same price range that doesnt have all that good hardware, but that i know that they put good wood and assembly to the axe. the hardware you can change, the wood and feel you can not.

so think again before you say but look!!!! they got awesome hardware!!!!and 6 out of 10 got a 20piece laminate body

get the tempest without a doubt.

cool thanks for all the input. I really loke the style of both guitars. so far the schecter is in the lead though for now. Plus I like the fact that I don't have to replace all the pots when I change the pickups. Unlike the esp.
