Yeah, I'm looking for a kick-ass neck pickup that will go nicely with my Dimebucker... I have a Les Paul. I want it to sound both smooth and nice under distortion(think Slash), and it has to be good for sweep picking and such, and it also needs to sound very full and 'pretty' when clean. Any ideas?

Edit: I was considering a '59 or Pearly Gates, but someone may have a way better suggestion.

Well, Slash used an Alnico II. The 59 and PG are both great neck pickups as well.

My personal favorite neck pickup under high gain is the Distortion. It is so smooth and perfect for areggios. The perfect shred pickup.

I've heard that it sounds very harsh when clean, can't have that
But I also heard that about the Dimebucker... sounds absolutley amazing clean to me, though. I guess its all just a matter of opinion.

I totally know the tone you're looking for and I'd go with a SH-10N.
I use them in all my guitars--I also have Dimes in the bridge.

It's super clear under high gain, and the cleans are nice and glasssy; It almost sounds like a strat.

Hope that helps.

yeah! the Full shred is my recommendation ,too. I use it with the dime and the combo kicks ass for everything

The Distortion neck is nice as well.

I would go with a Pearly Gates, APH, of Seth for the neck tone you described.

i vote the jazz neck.

clean and tight in a lp. you can do wonders with it using a tone knob.

Full Shred! I got one in my Jackson Death Angel and it rips ass. great clarity and pick articulation.

Well i'm in the same boat. I just put a dimebucker in my Les Paul in it and it kills. Since I'm a John Sykes freak I had to go with something warm. I think your best bet is to go with what I am trying and that is an Alnico II Pro. Slash uses that for the November Rain tone and Alnico II magnets are the most musical of all magnets period.

But see, I need something both warm and nice but able to rip through some sweeps and such. It other words, it has to be both a beast and a beauty queen.

I've narrowed my selection down to either a '59 or a A2P... A2P sounds really pretty and I'm sure it can rip with the best of em, and Dime used the '59 and it sounded pretty good.
