OK..I sold off most of my peds when I went with the Line6 there for a bit...but I'm going back to my Rivera and a couple stompers...

I still have my MXR Phase 90, but I need some advice on what are some good analog sounding (if not analog proper) Chorus and Delay pedals...

For Chorus I'm looking for that CE-1 lush type sound...and I'll run it in front of the amp, not the loop.

For Delays...something small I can run in the loop...don't need a ton of delay time, nothing more than 1 second...but having the option of the warmer analog repeats or pristine digital repeats would be nice.

Budget wise, for the both together I'm thinking about $200..so nothing quot;boutiquequot;

opine away please

build your own. A buddy of mine built a clone of a Boss DM-2 and it was freakin amazing. He got all the parts off a website, and it was about $75 and his pedal sounds every bit as good. I'll try to find the website for ya.

Build Your Own Clone?

from : localhost/digital delay voiced to have the same high end roll off that gave vintage analog delays their warm tone.quot;

I've bought their phaser kit after recommendations from guys here. Haven't got around to building it yet.

I picked up a nearly mint Boss DM-2 for $120 about a year or two ago (yes, I know it was a steal). I picked up my CS-9 for like $25 around 5 years ago.

CE-3 chorus - I think it sounds as good as the CE-2, but hasn't attained quot;vintagequot; pricing status yet. (My opinion. In a similar thread in the last few days, someone said the CE-3 doesn't sound as good as the CE-2. I'll let you decide.)

Asfor the delay, I don't know. I've never owned a delay that offered both the funky vintage and the modern, clean sounds. I've owned several Boss DD's (too clean in my taste). I now own a Rocktron ShortTimer. I love it: delay times out to 400 msec (more than I'll ever need) a more vintage sound, and dirt cheap. It might not be right for your needs, though.

Line6 DM-4 for Delay. It can even do some chorus. You'll thank me later!

I'm with Rich on the CE-3 if you're looking for that CE-2 lushness and based on your budget. Another one to look at is the CH-1. I run it with a Boss DD-2 digital delay and it's perfect for what I need. And for delays, a DD-2 or DD-3, Line6 delay if you can afford it.

It's funny Jeff, our rigs are very similar, Chorus, Delay, Phase 90. I do use an overdrive up front with the Phase 90 though. Chorus and Delay in the loop. Chorus just sounds better to me after overdrive/distortion.

And if you dont have time or dont want to build it, they sell prebuilt pedals for a few bucks more. Highly recommended

Time is a premium for me because of work and my son...I'd actually LOVE how to learn to do this stuff...for fun, savings, personal satisfaction, etc..and it's be hella lot easier for me to try a bunch of diff pups in my guitars if I knew how to solder and had the gear

With what uninterrupted free time I do have (an hour or so a night...one day every couple of weekends), I like to devote to playing..and I spend more time on here when I SHOULD be playing too

But if they will build 'em for ya...hmmm....

Are the current Ibanez peds any good? I used to really like the old ones from the 80s. And I guess Maxon's are just copies?

Thanks for the advice folks!

I prefer analogue pedals with preamp on them.

Those without the preamp, I could add a KFK-alike EQ and give extra boost. But with the preamp, I can have my own bass gain while playing with the power chords.

Sounds more rock and roll then just having pedals with small adjustments.

Actually Jeff, Ibanez are Maxon copies. Maxon made those pedals from the 80's and I think they still do.

Ibanez DE-7! I swear to Sammy Sosa somebody else besides me needs to play one! they're great! I love mine to death!

...I would also support the purchase of a byoc delay.

JeffB, try a couple of the Maxon's, the OD9 and 808, and tell us how they are. There are supposed to be the real deal.

Buy a H2O and get both analog-sounding delay and warm water-like chorus.

the ce-20 has a setting for the ce-1 sound plus more ****, i think im gonna get myself one of these some day

i dont have any experience with analog delay pedals but i know the digital delay is pretty good the dd-6 is ehat i ahve, but it has quite a bit of dealy, good for long delay but im not so sure about short delay. I think boss also or used to sell analog delay pedals. I've also heard good things about the line 6 delay whihc has been mentioned in the thread already. Suppossedly its one of the best delays on the market right now.
