over the next few months i am going to build a tele with a body and neck from warmoth. I have only had one tele before it had a maple fretboard and have played a few with rose wood. so far I have just about got everything picked out except for the woods to use. I am thinking ash for the body. maple neck with an ebony fretboard just to be alittle different. I'm either putting some duncan antiq's pickups or fender texas specials in it. and was wondering if this would be a good combination or not. Any info or suggestions will help out alot.
You might think about pau ferro for the fingerboard. It's not as dark as ebony and can have great grain patterns. Feels like rosewood, but has more snap to it.
IMHO Tele's should be made of swamp ash - unless you don't want it to sound like a Tele
Don't have a definitive answer on pickups - it all depends on what you play, want, amplify with, etc. I can suggest wiring that lets you put the two pickups in series - kind of like a humbucker except with lots more going on because each pickup is quot;readingquot; a different part of the string as it vibrates. OK, pure B.S. there, I just like the sound with more output amp; stronger bass.

thanks i never considered that for a fret board. I want the bite of the maple fretboard just don't want to have one on this one for some reason. I have always liked ebony on guitars though I just thought it may be too bright sounding. I was also looking at the different wirings havent decided yet though. I'm still not set on the pickups I kind of want to try either a mini humbucker or p90 in the neck. this is gonna be my experiment guitar. I'm also thinking of putting a b-bender on it. I have another tele that is suppossed to be comming to me not sure if i will do anything to it tho. it is a 62 or 63 i think the guy said. He only wants 400 for it so I guess I will have 2 then.
