Hey all. It came out of a Gibson Sonex 180 deluxe. Thats what it says on the baseplate, the guys at the shop told me its a Dirty Fingers, but i'm not conviced. It doesn't seem hot enough.
Also I pcked up a used SD at the same time, i think its a Jazz, it says CCJ on he bottom, am I right?
Not sure about the Gibson one (their labelling is useless!), but I reckon that Duncan is a Custom Custom made by someone whose initial is J.

Does the Gibson have 2 rows of adjustable poles, and 3 magnets? Then it´s a Dirty Fingers, PM me if you want to move it
Dirty Fingers also have a Pat. Nr. stamped into the baseplate.....
one row of ajustable polepieces, one magnet in between the underside of the pole pieces. it does have a patent number though 246070. But by the sounds of it, its not a dirty fingers. Bugger. I want one.
Ok, so the other pickup is a Custom Custom. That means the shop lied to me on both counts.
Thanks for your help guys!
Right, done a bit of research, turns out the Gibby pickup is a 'Velvet Brick' fairly medium output, not masses of anything. An improvment on the stock epi picups, but definately not what i was expecting, having bought what i thought was a dirty fingers.
The pickup I thought was a jazz which is actually a CC isn't really suitable for the neck of my LP either. Looks like i'm gonna have to take em back and make a fuss. I hate making a fuss... ah, who am I kidding, I need a good vent right now!
What shop was it dude? Aroundabout sound maybe? I've had good and bad experiences with that shop, don't usually go there unless i need to anymore.
yeah, aroundaboutsound. they are the only place that do decent second hand stuff. cash generator doesnt.
Ive never had any complaints about them before, but im not too impressed this time.
Soundhouse have better service, but they dont let you play anything.
Yer ive had a mixed bag with aroundabout sound, not complaints as such, just some rudeness and in some cases a lack of knowledge over the guitars they have.
Soundhouse also has its faults, like not letting my mate plug the bass he was thinking about buying into an amp, how is he supposed to judge a bass without plugging it in! A high point there was also them telling a friend he could play one of thier Gibsons....after he pays for it...yer...right, although saying this last time i visited at a not busy time there was a couple of very helpful young guys in soundhouse, and even though we were only shopping for pedals, they let us play them with a mid-price guitar through a Mesa, so i guess with them its a bit hit and miss.
Yeah, the youger guys in there are good, i think his name is Mark... he dropped the DSL off to my house which was pretty cool of him.
Also Ed, started recently, hes a decent guy, and the other one, who I dont think still works there, but he had black hair, really knowlegeable.
I feel more comfortable in soundhouse, they don't look at you like you're gonna nick something.
But now i've gotta trek right down the bottom of the high street just for an argument and a pain in the ass no doubt.

Have you tried putting the CC in the bridge position and the Velvet Brick in the neck? If not, give it a go before you take them back!
I haven't tried a CC in the bridge position of an LP but there are guys here who swear by it. You've gotta try it, even if you end up taking the Gibson pup back!
Plus, if you're not bowled over by the CC, it's only a magnet change away from being a Custom or a C5! Any of the Customs is a big step up from a stock Epi pup.
