I posted this at the TDPRI, and I figured you pickup freaks here might like it!
Thanks for listening!
I got my new GFS Lil Puncher Neck today! I put it in my Kramer Classic III, which is like a Tele, but with a Floyd Rose Tremolo. I also have a GFS Lil HOT puncher in the bridge position. I believe the body to be Poplar, and the neck is Maple with Rosewood fretboard. Please be aware that this is a particularily dark sounding guitar. I have both pickups wired to a Switchcraft 3 way blade switch, and AllParts 500K Push-Pull Volume pot and an AllParts 500K Linear taper tone pot and a .022 cap. The push-pull splits both pups, leaving the rearward most coil activated.
In humbucking mode, the bridge model is like a hot PAF, just the right amount of sizzle and thanks to the brass baseplate, it has a generous helping of snap without any quot;twangquot; in the traditional sense. When split, it's a tad quieter, quite like most Tele singles I have heard and similar in tone, but like any humbucker, is not a perfect single, but it tries pretty hard. Probably the best split I've heard from a higher-output pup.
The neck, which is deemed quot;Modern Vintagequot; in humbucking mode is a dead-ringer for an older PAF. Clear and round with just enough edge to cut through. When split, it's identical to the Schaller pickup that came stock in the Kramer. It does the single coil thing perfectly, nice and Tele-ish... very buttery and round.
If you need a humbucker sound and a Single coil sound in the same guitar, you can't go wrong with these two. Especially for the price. Even if you pay full price from the GFS EBay store, you won't pay more than $90 for the pair, including shipping. It's really a great deal.
Here's pics:I'm open to questions or comments!

yeah! gfs pickups are getting lots of rave reviews lately. they can't be beat at the price they are going for.
So they're a lot like the Duncan Rails and not like Bardens? IOW, Seymour's Rails sound like a Hot PAF or side-by-side humbucker and Bardens sound like a Tele pickup.

Possibly like a cool-rails. Not nearly as much scream as a HotRails... maybe a bit in between?
I tried a set of GFS Fatbody pickups in my ASAT Tribute a couple weeks back. I'll be kind, they weren't for me. I replaced them with Duncan Vintage neck and Broadcaster bridge models, and now I have what I wanted in the first place.
