Out of interest...

Do Epiphone les pauls follow the neck profiles of the Gibsons? And if they do, which neck profile do they use?

They are close to the 60s.

My epi was actually a bit flatter and thinner than my 60s neck production standard....but it's close...

60's is the... slimmer neck right? The one found on the Les Paul Classic?

I like the neck shape on my Epi LP Standard..... My 76 Les Paul has a real baseball bat to it and i do not like it's neck shape..... The Epi is more my type of neck shape..... But i have tried the 50's neck shape out on an LP at the local store and i liked it too....

Zakkly....WhoFan...in 1976, Gibson WAS using baseball bats for necks..maple and all

Here's the difference. They are totally the opposite of Gibson Les Paul Classics and Standards. On the Epiphone Les Paul Standard it has a 60's slim taper neck. The Epiphone Les Paul Classic has more of a rounded 50's neck. I have 2 Epiphone Les Paul Classics and 5 Epiphone Les Paul Standards. Trust me, I know the answer to this question.

Hmmm..thanks Jolly..I've only playd the Stds...so I was going by that...

classics have bigger neck.....hmmmmm

When speaking of Epis, in Gibby speak the classics are thinner, hence why Jolly said they are exactly the opposite.

now you confused me....(not hard to do)

this is what Jolly stated

The Epiphone Les Paul Classic has more of a rounded 50's neck

My Epi was a Std plus which is similar to the Gibson 60s profile....which is what jolly said as well, no?

Right, Jolly said the Epi standards/classics are opposite of the Gibby standards/classics when talking about the neck shape. The Epis are thinner (Std.)/thicker(Cl.) and the Gibbys are thicker(Std.)/thinner(Cl.)

Yes, they are totally opposite.

Gibson Les Paul Classic: slim tapered 60's neck
Epiphone Les Paul Classic: fatter 50's styled neck

Gibson Les Paul Standard (older style before they came in choice of neck size): fatter 50's styled neck.
Epiphone Les Paul Standard: slim tapered 60's neck

Basically, if you have an Epiphone Les Paul Standard, it's pretty much the same as a Gibson Les Paul Classic's neck.

OK we are on same page then ...I just was mentioning that I did not know of a diff in the epi std vs. classic and was glad Jolly pointed it out..

all better now...

me go now

ughh

arggg

That was my fault, my apologies.

I have 3 myself - 2 classics and 1 standard. what Jolly said was right... the 2 classics have a fatter neck...

Thanks for your help guys.
I asked coz I kinda felt that the epi neck was thinner than the gibson necks I've played. Then I played a gibson classic and it somehow felt so familiar... and now I know why. Haha.

Does this apply to the Epi Elitist series as well?
