It's official, I got bit by the Tele bug and I'm hooked Telecasters are so badass and I'm loving mine so much!
After my whole UPS ordeal, I've felt like this guitar is a miracle. I honestly thought it was going to be lost and I was going to have to push to get a refund from UPS.

This guitar has everything I've wanted in a telecaster. It sports a one piece swamp ash body (4 lbs.), a boatneck contoured birdseye maple/rosewood neck, vintage 3 saddle (brass) official Fender licensed bridge, graphite nut (I believe that's what it is, it's black, I know that much , Fender ping tuners (which hold their tuning extremely well), and some nice Peter Florance Voodoo pickups (TE50 and Broadcaster pickups I believe).

I've heard mixed reviews on the quality of Warmoth parts. After playing this guitar (which was comprised of primarily Warmoth parts), I can say that they do indeed make very good quality stuff. The neck fits the pocket of the body perfectly. I can play one chord and it rings out very loud acoustically (and balanced). There is something very good going on here that I don't hear everyday and that tells me that this is one guitar that won't be going anywhere.

The neck is my favorite part of this guitar. It is PERFECT for my hands! It's beefy and with a very subtle quot;vquot; shape. Chords and scales can be played effortlessly. It's currently setup with 11's and I can play with them fine, but I don't feel safe having a gauge that high tuned to standard E so I'll probably stick to 10's so there won't be quite as much tension or stress on the neck. This shaped neck is IT as far as I'm concerned. It even beats out the 50's style fatback Gibson necks for me Did I mention the fretwork and inlay work? Absolutely dead on. I can play and not feel a single thing out of place or poking into my hand. I'm very impressed with how well this guitar was assembled!

I have a Harmonic Design S-90 and Vintage on the way, so I'll be looking forward to installing them. Scott from HD recommended an ash body with a maple/rosewood neck, so the tone should be perfect.

I'm thinking of naming this guitar quot;Shivaquot; as a tribute to the Pagan goddess. There's no logo on the headstock, so I may have to go and get a custom made decal for her

Not only did this guitar survive multiple misroutings, but it arrived safely and is one hell of a guitar... a miracle indeed Due to my experience with this guitar, I can safely recommend Warmoth products to people looking for a nice custom instrument. My entire guitar weighs 7 lbs, but it really sustains and blooms in all that right areas

nice job

teles get you right down to the raw essence of playingBTW, the color looks a lot like my firemist gold Warmoth strat that I just put back together tonight after getting the fret ends dressed:

I really dig 2 pickup, 3-way selector guitars. My Gibson and Warmoth are so simple and beautiful. No fancy inlays or crazy flamed or quilted bodies. It's just one big slab of wood pieced together right. Guitars like those bring out the best in me. I like having just a few tones that I have to squeeze everything out of. I don't get distracted as easily and I can focus more on making music (which is the whole point of this guitar thing in the first place ).

I've always wanted a Goldtop and I thought I was going to go with a Les Paul for a long time until I realized humbuckers just aren't my thang. It was difficult to accept, but P90s are quot;my soundquot; and I appreciate single coils as well. I was looking at Fenders and Gamp;Ls for my telecaster purchase, but I stumbled upon this Warmoth on the very first thread day on TGP and when I saw it had all the ingredients I wanted, I snatched it as is (without trying to haggle on the price).

The previous owners of this guitar (two) both let go of the guitar because of the contour/size of the neck. I was intimidated because I was afraid it would be too bulky for even me, but I'm glad to find out that it fits my big hands right (I think Warmoth advertises it as their fattest neck). I've learned over time about what's really worth keeping and what's not, this one's definitely a keeper

Chris...I like it! Did you buy it from a guy on the Telecaster Forum (TDPRI)???

the neck size and profile are so critical to the playability of a guitar, so it's great you like it
I don't have big hands, but I've found I like larger profiles. You tend to adapt to what you play, and after getting used to larger necks, smaller necks seem less satisfying to play.

enjoy!

Hey The Chris, I'm really glad you've finally gotten your guitar- it looks great! You'll love the HD pickups- I've had those in my Tele and it's the closest you're going to come to a cross between a LP Jr and a Tele.

that is one SWEEEEEEEEET lookin' tele my friend...simply awesome!!!

let me know what pups get you that p-90 tele tone the best...i'd like to het a Hwy 1 and do it the same way one of these days!!

Please excuse me while I drool.

That is one sweet Tele. I know what you mean about the neck. I have one with the same contour on my homemade strat. That neck has been on the guitar for almost 12 years. Straight as an arrow and plays as good as the day it was new. I may end up getting another neck just like it for my MIA Strat.

I've been hit by the Tele bug, but it's a very.. unconventional Tele. Floyd Rose, bridge humbucker with a Sustainiac Stealth in the neck, ebony fretboard with gold frets, EMG Afterburner, Les Paul pot setup, all gold hardware, the works, finished in a beautiful Transparent Red. Getting her in 8 weeks now.. I'm naming her Torri, she'll be quite the player

I've been wanting a tele for ages..... like this Gold one... How well do those saddles intonate

WhoFan

Nice! I know that'll play nice and solid. That color always looks good, when strapped on too. It looks like it's shaped like a McCarty neck, but a tad beefier w/bigger frets.

Dude that is a bute!!!!!!! WOWZER

What actually is warmoth?

the guy who invited fire - I purchased the guitar from quot;gushtonequot; on The Gear Page

Curly - I think you're absolutely right, there's nothing quite as satisfying as playing a huge neck that you can really grip onto for crazy bends and solos!

Golden Boy - thanks for reaffirming that my Harmonic Design choice was a good one! I have a Z-90 in my Don Grosh and love it, so I know Scott from HD makes a great product. The Voodoo pickups are actually very nice (great clarity with a perfect balance of shimmer and warmth), but p90s are still my thing (love the punch that p90s give) so I'll be looking forward to the set when it comes in

Hoss - it's funny you mentioned the Highway 1 Fenders, that was one I was looking at too. It came down to the fact that I needed a swamp ash body for this project and I wasn't going to settle for anything less (I contemplated alder for a little while).

ErikH - I'm glad you like those necks too! They certainly aren't for everyone, but after a long jam session today, I appreciate that my hands weren't cramping like some narrow necks can do.

V-Spot - sounds like a sweet and unconventional tele! I was originally planning on a Nashville style setup with 3 singles and a 4 way switch to get strat like quack tones. I may route it in the future, but for now it's staying put. Please send pics and a review when you get it in, sounds like it may be a serious shred machine!

Who Fan - I'll be honest, I don't do my own setups. The saddles and bridge are exactly like the ones on the 52 RI Fenders. I think anything can be intonated almost dead on, a guitar tech managed to get my RI 0 LP Special DC (which has a wraparound bridge) to get almost perfect.

Terry, I figured you'd like it... one step closer to the Refreshments

I'm glad you like it guys, I saw it and thought it was special myself and I'm glad I didn't hesitate to commit to buy

I put this guitar through a 4 1/2 hour jam session with my friend at his karate dojo. I beat the heck out of that guitar and it just would not go out of tune! Those Fender ping tuners really do hold well and the guitar plays and sounds like a dream in its current state (not quite the quot;ballsquot; or attack of my P90 Gibby, but it's sweet sounding... nothing like bell type cleans and cutting overdrive). This is going to be one hell of a workhorse guitar (and it doesn't look as fancy as some of my others), so I won't be afraid to gig with it!

Keep your eyes peeled in about 2 months! I'm so pumped, this will be a HUGE step from my Epi V. They say a guitar is only as good as it's parts.. I went all out!

I'll be sure to have some pics up, and expect a 2 or 3 post review on her!

Freakin' sweet! Modded Tele's rock..but I'm biased. Have fun.
