I have a 72 tele and im looking for a bridge humbucker thats a good match for a telecaster. The ones on now are a little too bright and screechy for me, Seems like most of the hb's are geared towards pauls. But thanks for your help.

I love the C5 I have, (had), in my Tele. Its the quintessential quot;country twangquot;. The only reason its temporarily out, is I want to try this here Jerry Donahue model that I just got from Lew. I moved the C5 to my Patriot, and now it has the country-vibe for now.

I love the 59' in the tele bridge, gives me enough twang in cleans and a incredible metal tone.

Wait a second, Artie... how are you swapping a JD in place of a C5? What kind of bridge do you have on that thing? Or is this a homemade-pickguard and/or duct tape job?

Maybe a JB? The JB really reminds me of a Tele Lead pickup when it's wired with a push/pull switch that allows it to be switched from series (normal) to parallel. And it has my favorite single coil tones when it's split, if you wanted to try that. Some players say it reminds them of a Tele Lead pickup when they turn down the volume control too. Lew

Well . . . give me credit for a smidgen more class than that.

I'm making an adaptor out of .032quot; brass plate like the kind you get at a hobby store. I've already got it cut and drilled. I'm just taking my time cutting out the pup slot. I should be done this weekend, and I'll post pics at that time.

well im kind of looking for a more rock oriented sound, not really country. any suffestions? sorry i should have said.

The Jb model would be a good choice for anything blues to rock and it has alot of versatility if you have it split aswell.

I used a JB in my #1 Tele for years but recently changed it to a 59 which is what I have in the neck position. The JB was too bright and didn't blend as well as a matching set. The 59 combo make a Tele sound more like a lester!

Is it thoes large 4 screw humbuckers? If so, Rio Grande makes them. Im not sure about anyone else.

yeah its those big honkin humbuckers that fender decided would be fun to make.....anyways about those rios? they any good? the only one the make for the 72 tele is the muy grande.

The muy grande is fairly hot, but its about your only option with that type of bucker, you'll like it.I have no experence with that pickup, I've got a muy grande tele lead, and love it to death, but I'm not sure how close to the bucker version it is.

But a regular humbucker wouldn't work in there without mods and then it'd look weird, or so I'd think.
