i dunno anything about it, except, it's a single coil :P dont find it anywhere either.. well, instead of 6 holes for the metall-things, it's just one long hole, and the color is black, what more can i say? :P

please help

welcome to the forum

are there any letters or numbers on the top or bottom?

can you post a pic of it?

Sounds like hes talking about a rails. Did it come in a guitar as standard? What make and model is the guitar?

The only pickups that match the physical description that I've seen are the Hot Stack and the pickups that Yamaha used to put into some of their older ('70s ?) axes.

I was also thinking about the old quot;Mega-railquot; hot-stacks....

i got it loose, no guitar or anything :P

it's only 6 metalthings (as normal) and there are 2 magnets on the backside, 2 small. yellow and black cables, if that's any help :P

ill try to post a pic later today.

and sorry for my bad english :P

2 magnets on the Backside?... I´m not sure it´s a duncan at all, the yellow wire also bothers me.....

We definitely need pics

here's some bad pics, but hopefully good enough :P
damn, they where big lol ;D

One thing's for Shure, that's no mike...

Where did you buy it, and did the seller tell you anything about it?

yeah, its a mike (pickup) :P

i traded an old neck to a guy for 2 emg pickups, and got that one to :P
no info about it, thats why im here and askin you guys :P

Hmmm.... looks to me like a cheap import single coil w/ a Cover... I´m serious

Do you have a mutlimeter so you can check the resistance?? W/ the resistance we can scheck on the pickups in that range and narrow it down... but I´m pretty sure that´s no Duncan

it's a duncan, the guy i got it from, got it in a fender strat, mexico, with floyd rosebridge and emg 81amp;89humbuckers and that one i have now, the mysterious duncan singlecoil :P he bought the guitar from a swedish musicstore called musikbörsen

If I remember correctly, the MIM Fender pickups have black and yellow wires. So, I'm gonna guess it's a MIM Strat pickup with a Duncan Rails cover on it.

That may well be...

The reasons I think it´s not a Duncan:

1. Wrong wire type: Duncan uses cloth covered wire for almost all of the single coils, this one clearly has plastic or teflon insulation, and looks to be a smaller guage as well....
2. 2 Notches in the baseplate near the wiring eyes: Never seen a Duncan with a notched plate
3. Plastic baseplate: Also never seen one on a Duncan
4. 2 magnets on the bottom: Again, common for Import single coils, and I´ve never seen a duncan single with that setup (though I´m not ruling it out)
5. Wrong cover: the cover is for an older Hot Stack, which has one large bar as a pole... but Duncan singles with poles come with a cover for 6 poles...

It may well be a Duncan, but then it´s an obscure one, likely discontiniued, with the wrong cover ..... Or there´s a single coil I haven´t tried yet, with the wrong cover

Rich_S - do you know anything more about those pickups? it was probably a middle pickup :P

Zerberus - well, i guess you right

Read somewhere that Squier pups use 2 magnets like a p90... sure looks like the case.

Why would anyone want to put a SD cover on such a pup is beyond me. Like putting a Gibson sticker in a Slammer guitar.

It's been several months since I had the pickguard off my guitar, but I'm pretty sure that pickup looks like the Tex-Mex Strat middle pickup on my Mexican Tele Nashville. IIRC, that pickup had yellow amp; black wires, a black plastic base/bobbin, and MIGHT have had two bar magnets (I'm not sure about the magnets.)

Overall, I like the Tex-Mex. It's the only pickup of the three that I didn't replace with a Duncan.

the 2 things that pop into my head are:

1. to match up cosmetically with logoed Duncans in a guitar or
2. to pass it off as a Duncan to the untrained eye....

But again, maybe it really is one.... it would surprise me, though
