Where can I find a 4-pole 5-way switch for strat that won't cost me $15 plus $10 shipping. I guess the $15 isn't bad, it's paying that much for shipping (Allparts/WD)
I guess on the note, does everyone like 250K pots on S/Cs and what cap values do you like? Oh yeah, linear or log pots for tone controls. Has anyone ever split the tone controls with two different cap values and had them BOTH in parallel with the overall output?
There's actually a quot;Fenderquot; 4-pole/5-way switch that I found in a music store - might have even been Sam Ash but I'm not sure. IIRC it's the same quot;Oakquot; switch that most of the on-line catalogues stock. Save shipping anyway.
250k pots seem standard for single coils, but you might want to try a higher pot value if a particular pickup is too dark to start with. Always log taper for volume. I've never had a setup where linear taper seemed like it would be an improvement for a tone pot, but YMMV.
Yes, I've had a 1.1 cap on the neck pup and 2.2 for the middle/bridge before. Neck/middle was muddy with an effective 3.3 (two caps combined), but not as bad as two 2.2 caps together (4.4 effective).
Hope this helps. Might move this thread to the Pup Tent though.
