I own an Ibanez RGT42 with passive pickups, however I want the Duncan Livewire active 18v humbucker in the bridge. What exactly needs to be done in order for this to work? Does the whole system need to become active, or just the bridge? any help is appreciated. I need to know whether it is worth it or not. THanks
Welcome to the forum.
Well, considering the pick-up choice you've made in the Metal Livewire, I'm
guessing:1) You don't use the neck pick-up anyway 2) You play with extreme distortion levels and.....3) You never play with clean tones
If you answered yes to all of these, then go ahead with this pup and disconnect the neck pup permanently and simply replace all pots amp; jack.
If you want a pup for the neck, then try the Livewire Classic.
If you answered no to any of these questions, avoid this pup at all costs because it will only do distorted tones and nothing else.
The whole system doesnt HAVE to be active.... I have an EMG 89 in the bridge of my paul and a 59 in the neck... although Im not entirly sure about the livewire... But i dont think you need to change the whole system... and you know what if this helps you to find your tone then hell do it!
O by the way welcome to the forum bro!
But frehley is probably right...
