Some of you probably remember the fiasco I had with a shop that I commissioned to make an Ibanez JS-style guitar body and neck for me, which after a long wait turned up some horrible craftsmanship and resulted in me returning the parts for a refund. Looks like someone else got stuck with them . I want to know where he pulled that number $1300 from, the completely finished body and neck cost me exactly HALF of that.

What are those lighter colored blurry things in the finish? There's one between the bridge and neck pickup, and one on the back in those photos. Are those just distortions from the flash or some sort of finish abnormality?

Hell, knowing this guy maybe he tried to do something to the pics in photoshop.
hahahah
woooow
a lot of people at eddievanhalen.com have bought from this place and had horrible experiences too
But all that stuff wasn't in the body when you got it, was it? It looks like proper sanding wasn't done at all. The surface looks really uneven.

The clear was still really soft when I got the body, he knew I was pretty pissy after 4-5 months of waiting and decided to send it to me before letting the finish cure properly. This guitar is an example of just all around shoddy workmanship. You can see sawdust under the clear in several places, especailly around the pickup routes and neck pocket.
Keep in mind that some of what you're seeing is flame in the limba. As bad as the work is he picked a gorgeous piece of wood to ruin. In the first pictures of the guitar upright, the flame runs from the lower left to the upper right.
What an iddiot!!!
Jeez that looks terrible. I dig the rounded off body parts and the wood but that about it. The neck looks pretty ugly. The white stuff sure looks like blushing in one of the coats...I don't know if he sprayed the quot;finishquot; or if it's a wipe on but either way I'd kill myself before submitting that to a customer no matter who it is.
I love how he says the string-thru ferrels don't line up but quot;it's hardly noticeablequot;. From those pics, it very obvious.
What a maroon, hehehe.
What a nincowpoop.
For a guy that got a D in woodshop, he has a lot of gall calling himself a Custom Shop.
It's got to bug you to see the finished product, knowing that's what your guitar was supposed to be, but you did the right thing by returning it. I feel bad for the sucker who got throttled for $1300. Better him than you, tho.
Look's to me like his HTML skills are much better than is guitar building. ( Cool
website) That string thru was apparently done with a hand drill.
When I did my hardtail strat. I whent back to my old H.S. To see if they would let me use the drill press? The wood shop was gone? (Budget cuts)
So I ended up useing a hand drill. I must say mine came out better that that ! When I did my tele one of my co-worker's mention his landlord
had a drillpress in his garage. I wasn't gonna try it with a hand drill again.
So we broke into the guys garage so I could use his drill press
(Desperate times require desperate measures.)
