Would like to get best guitar for around $1000. Already have an amazing guitar the Blueline-Gauge guitars built for me. But I want something for gigs, to keep at a differnt tuning. A good hard rock guitar. My current is a single cut-59 in neck and JB in bridge. I would like something like this. Any suggestions? I'm thinken of just hitten up ebay. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!

Used Jackson SL-1 or SL2H ... USA made, high quality, you get Duncans (HSS or HH respectively), a Floyd and a generally different beast to one of Aaron´s singlecuts (I assume you got the Single)... perfect for harder styles but will cover all sorts of bases

There are several models from Schecter, ESP, Agile, Tokai, Edwards, etc. that would work great.

sweet, thanks!!! the other guitarest in my band is trying to convince me to get some type of late 80's early 90's Jackson

what kind of sound are you after? there are lots of guitars out there that are great for under 1000.

Do you want something that sound at least somewhat close to one of blueline's singlecuts?

Well, maybe- what is something that would sound close for under $1000? Things i'm thinking of are-les pauls, maybe prs? I was looking at Gibson Night Hawks today, which seem pretty cheap. What do you think, Thanks soooooo much for all the replys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Mrfjones-We have the same Birthday!!! Happy Belate B-Day!!!

Carvin makes a better Prs then Prs makes and for alot cheaper with custom options. Like a ebony fretboard that will really make u cut through with a maple top and mahogany body and neck. Yes they have crap pickups stock, but so does PRS and gibson, and carvins quality is a hell of a lot better

And happy birthday to you too my friend

I was thinking something along the lines of a PRS or even a gibson, used of course. You can find some pretty cool guitars but nothing with the quality of a Gauge guitar. I was also thinking you might want to go in a different direction withe maybe a dual humbucker strat. That would be a whole different world from one of Bluelines guitars. But it could still play very nicely.

Probably the best deal I ever received was a PRS 24CE for 999- It was in perfect condition, but not the color I wanted- I had to wait a year for the dealer to get one as a trade in, but well worth the wait and just about imposible to beat for diversity in hard rock in my book-

Haven't tried the less expensive SGs but would look there as well-
Good luck!

YUP!!

Maybe a nice 2nd hand Gibson SG? Lightweight, chunky tone, easy upper fret acces and good looks!

*Ernie Ball Music Man

*Ibanez RGT220's or RG320

*Tokai's are also very underrated in terms of price and quality

*Yamaha AES series

Who am I to argue with this? That's exactly what I'd do.

If you want to stick to a single cutaway guitar, look for a used Heritage or Hamer. Both are superb guitars.

firstly, glad you'r enjoying your baby
its one of my presonal favorites
i agree with the above recomendatin of a used prs CE
the bolt on maple neck and the pickups in their (which could always be changed) would give you a snappier brighter and a lil thinner tone
or you could get a used swamp ash special which would add a singlecoil int he middle

I like Carvin as well.

As for a good gigging guitar in an LP style that's good quality.
Fernandes Ravelle Deluxe.
A little more wild in body style.
But it does have a function.
The horn design hugs your leg when sitting with the guitar.
Doesn't slide around on you.

Features.
Mahogany body.
Mahogany set neck.
Carved plain maple top. Some with figured veneers over plain maple top.
Graphite nut.
Grover sealed tuners.
24 3/4 scale.
Rosewood fretboard.
Real Duncan Jazz/JB pickup combo.

They normally seell with case between $699 and $799 new.
But, keep an eye on Ebay. You can score one for around $450 or - .

I've had mine since 2003. It's held up great.
Very nicely made guitar. Nice sounding too.
A good workhorse guitar.

Thank you all for replys super helpful!!!!!!!!!!!!

PRS CE's look pretty sweet, I'm kinda leaning towards that right now.

How much does musician's friend have these for? I'm prob going to get one off ebay, but i'm just wondering.

hey cous--personally i think you should save up for another gague. although if you're really in need maybe we could work someting out for my sg. can't wait to see ya this christmas
