Dumped the McCarty..got me this
Yup a quot;plain ol'quot; Black Standard (60s neck). Oddly enough my best Paul ever was a plain old 92 black standard and this one def rivals it. QC is quite good. One little teeny ding/blemish in the nut that doesn't affect a damn thing, and hard to spot without stickin your face up to it. All the 2005's I'm seein are pretty darn nice  Not like what I was seein last year at this time.
I'd been messing around with a Wine Red Classic that is damn nice Paula too, cos I'd gotten used to the 60's neck on my Firebird. But this Standard jes spoke to me out of another classic, a C5 (the chambered thing from the custom shop), a Faded Standard, and a Iced Tea Standard. This one had it all. So the Classic will be on it's way And the rest as they say is history.
The BB pro's on this one are still a little nasty/harsh in the high end (don't like the uneven winds..) but they are prolly the best set of BB pro's I've heard, not quite as muddy and they quot;singquot; a bit better. She' goin in for new pups tho....I think to pay homage to that ol' Blackie that was my best paula, I'm gonna go with a SH5 Custom in the bridge and the 59 in the neck.
God I love my Gibsons...wish I liked less expensive guitars..then I could have more of them
Me likey...
If I got my greasy mitts on that, id be wailin' jazz solos on it already - like the jazz pirate that I am. ARRRRRRGGHHH MATIES!!!

HOnestly....I found myself playin alot of Jazzy type chords today...this Paula jes sounded awesome through the Chubster clean channel...I dialed in some rockabilly twang, then some mellow jazzy stuff...some bluesy tones...I was all into the cleans on this guitar.
If I wasn't such an old time metalhead/hard rocker, I'd keep her stock as a my quot;classic tonedquot; guitar.
Man I hear ya.
I just love my les paul.
The antiquities in it can do anything. Its my main axe for hard rock band practice and my midnight axe for headphones jazz.
You can sell the burstbuckers on ebay, and get the money to pay for the SDs.
Have a smoke-free duncanization!

I already have the 59 (zebra), but I would need to order the custom (and I'd prefer covers for both but..)
Is there that much demand for the BB's? They are neat pickups for a bluesy type sound or medium crunch, but I really don't understand why Gibson went with them..the 57's provide much more quot;authenticquot; Les Paul tone, IMO.
YUM, if it plays and sounds as good as it looks you can only be a happy camper.
I suppose that's why they are a quot;Classicquot;.
