Hey guys.

I have an Ibanez DE7 Delay/Echo pedal which I've recently been having problems with.

Whenever I try to use the Delay with my Orange valve amp (and the pedal is bypassed), I lose alot of signal and the amp seems to lose it's tone.

It's almost like the delay is acting like a volume pedal and is restricting the signal going into the amp.

I've tried the pedal with several other amps and don't have this problem.

Does anyone know what may be causing this?

Thanx for any help or advice

Craig

Sounds like impedance troubles.

What could be causing this and how do I worka round it?

If it helps, I used the pedal on it's own into the High input of my Orange. So I know it's not the length of cables/pedal chain that may be reducing the signal.

Craig

What do you use before the delay??

The Signal chain was Guitar--Delay-Amp and the problem was there all the time. Whether the pedal was switched on or off made no difference.

I know the epdal works fine because I tested it on another amp before I took it to band practise to use with my Orange.

Hmm I am digging up some specs of that amp.
Sounds like something is wrong with that input, have you tried other pedals on it??

The amp works fine with other pedals.

I also use a BOSS TU2 Pedal Tuner, a Fulltone Fulldrive2, G2D Custom Overdrive and a ZVex Super Duper on the amp with no problems.

On occasion I also use a BOSS CE5 Chorus Ensemble with the amp and have never had a problem.

I use the High input on the amp because I get my basic drive sound from the amp, and then overdrive it with the OD and Boost pedals depending on the sound I'm after.

The DE7 is the 1st pedal I've ever had a problem using with this amp

I wonder if some sort of a quot;Bufferedquot; pedal like a Boss style after the delay, before the amp would help out. Switched off, of course. Maybe try the Chorus after the delay left off? It may or may not work and you may or may not like the sound of it. Is there no Effects Loop on your amp? The delay might sound better in an effects loop period.

It's not the buffer, it really is something with the impedance that is jacking up the signal.
Hmm it would be easier to have it hands on

Thanx for the posts guys

This is the only pedal I've ever used with this amp that I've had a problem with

I know a Delay would sound better in an FX loop, but the Orange doesn't have 1. So that's not an option Originally Posted by RidIt's not the buffer, it really is something with the impedance that is jacking up the signal.

Is there anyway (short of buying a new Delay) that I can make this pedal work with this amp?

Thanx for all your help

Craig

Well if your Boss and Ibanez ts is giving you no trouble, then it is not a buffer bug.
try to put different pedals in front of the delay and use a clean sound, see what it does.

When I 1st noticed the problem with the delay, it'd been a while since I had used the Delay, so I thought it may have been a bad connection. So I used some contact cleaner in the jack sockets of the Delay and then all seemed fine when I used it with my Marshall amp.

I'll try some more pedal combinations and see if anything helps matters.
