well, i got my pickguard from warmoth and my yellow pickups in today and went to work on my 80's project hehe. again, i have sinned and went with dimarzio pickups in a strat but i just can't find a duncan with enough low end chunk that keeps the articulation and clarity like the breed in my other strat and the super 3 in this strat....fast track 1 in the neck also of this one. i've tried tons of duncans in strat bridges but just can't find the right sound and i think i did find it with the breed and the super 3 only more time playing them will tell but so far so good!!
well here it is...oh and i have yellow knobs and a yellow switch tip on the way to finish it off...

Love it! Looks great. Post some clips of that bad boy. I love yellow guitars!!
Very 80's, it'll look cool with the knobs and switch too.
man, awesome your cosmetic mods have to be the only ones i totally flip over - i love the twistedcaster, too..
tom
next time i mod my axe i'm gonna ask YOU for cosmetic advice.
You got some badd ass guitars, XSSIVE. Love it!
I kinda like but it's wrong... Must... not...
I definitely like. When will you stop buying gear? :P
XSSIVE- That Guitar is KILLER!
I think it's my favorite of all of your guitars.Yellow is my favorite guitar color- one of my Tele's is yellow.I love that
I've always liked that pickup configuration, and wish more companies did the H S strat, with a rails neck. Just wonderin.....did the pickguard holes line up perfectly, or did you have to drill a couple holes? Also, what background do you use to get such studio quality pics?
damn, that is sweet. :32; all your guitars kick ass XSSIVE.
My favorite pickup combo. Favorite guitar type. Favorite color combo. If you ever wanna sell it, tell me. I want one of those bad!
that thing k!cks ass.... now you got me browsiing warmoth
thanks a bunch everyone...i'm lovin it so far!!
GJ...this is one of my favorite pickup combos also, that's why i just redid two of my strats like this...the other will be posted when the new neck pickup gets here, it's in a temporary state right now. anyway, the pickguard i had warmoth make and cut for H/x/S with a 5 way cutout but no knob holes (i drilled them where i wanted them since i hate the volume knob placement on stock strats) and all the holes lined up pretty much perfectly, no need for drilling the guard or body. the guitar is actually a deluxe powerhouse strat (used to have the active midboost...long gone now lol) so the guard holes line up much better than the cheaper MIM. only one was a tiny tiny bit off to make it on a slight angle but i'll fix it later, it's not that bad. it also has the larger trem block and med jumbo frets...i think it's fenders secret guitar lol...low price and good features that people tend to look past for some reson. as for the pics...the key is a good amount of light in the room, no flash, a steady hand or tripod and i lay them on my bed lol...that's what the background is, the duvet cover on my comforter pulled real tight to look as smooth as possible.

Nice job, mike. Did you custom order the yellow bobbins or paint them? The whole thing looks very professional, as 80's guitars go.
thanks...the pickups were all custom ordered in yellow, not painted. i was going to do them pink then chikened out and went yellow lol.

Thats the guitar I want to play through your powerball!!!! 80's glam, over and over again!!!!

lol, that was the first guitar i played through it since i just finished it today and wanted to play it more. you joke about the 80's metal but one riff i played through it that wasn't my own stuff was Motley Crue's Live Wire since i wanted to hear how the guitar and amp did in D and how the harmonics were and it was the first riff i thought of in D with harmonics...this thing kicks out some SICK harmonics without even having to try!!
hair metal rules lol...i need to learn more!
big_black...gee thanks hahahaha just kidding, it's not for everyone and i'm fine with that!! i just wanted a wild 80s style guitar and what better guitar than a yellow strat lol.
