how well are trade ins at these places because im looking to sell my gibson 61 sg ri. which is mint and i want to get as much out of it as i can, i bought it for $1500 and want to try to get at least $1400 out of it??

No way, they pay pennies on the dollar, just gussing, but maybe $700-$800.

E-Bay's best bet.

go eBay, you´ll get fair market value... gear as a trade in ALWAYS benefits the store more than it does you, even in my old shop... we´re doing this to make money, not friends

And you've got to realize that a 93% return is WAY above fair market value.

Yah, you're dreaming on that one. If you paid $1500 new they'll probably give you between $500-700 on a trade. Selling on your own might net you $1200 tops.

if its in good condition ebay will get you quot;at leastquot; 75% what you payed for, a trade in won't get close.

This is right. I paid $1550 for a Duo Jet and I was thinking about trading it in for another guitar at GC. They wanted to give me $650 and it is in mint condition. Sell it yourself, you'll do alot better.

Yeah, as nice and convenient as it would be to just trade in your gear and avoid the hassle of shipping, I've found that they only wanna give 25-30% of the new retail price. Definitely sell it yourself.

For a $1500 axe, you'll be very lucky to see $600. Sell it yourself, dude.

yeah..ditto what everyone is saying. they're in it for money not to be nice to you. sell it yourself! DO IT
