I was wondering if anyone can give me some info on speaker magnets. Alnico vs. ceramic on a tube amp. Is it alot like the PU's how ceramic can be boomy and dull? What would a standard marshall cab have?

Boomy and dull doesn't characterize ceramic speakers!
Most of the modern day speakers(Marshall V30,G1275,G12H-30 ETC)are Ceramic magnet...
Just like pickups...Ceramic as a rule is tight and focused and more direct in it's tone....Speakers with ceramic magnets have an edgier top end with more punch and quot;spankquot;.
Alnico....Sweeter,warmer,squishier in the feel....Early Fender amps with Jensen speakers comes to mind...
Mostly I think it comes down to the design and size of the speakers and in what application as it's hard to categorize...
Check out Ted Weber's page from : localhost/ They have a forum, and that crowd knows their speakers. Ted participates regularly.
Another thing about Alnico - it's weaker, so the magnets have to be bigger. Speakers like the Celestion Alnico Blue are HUGE.
