anyone own one of the fender lite ash tele's? i played one today and loved the feel of the satin finish birdseye neck (22 frets med jumbo) what more could i want (looks great too) so i'm thinking of getting one in black and modifying it like mad as i always do with my guitars...to replace my MIM tele with. I just wanted to see if anyone else owns one and what they thought of it after playing it for a while. oh yeah and i mean the $500-$600 MIK one not the US one...i'm still amazed that this thing is made in korea...nice guitar for the price (even comes with duncans and brass saddles) and seems to be good quality from the 3 i looked at/one i played!! also what can i expect as far as a sound change going from an alder tele to lite ash?

I didn't know they made those in black. Anyways, Evan owns one.
oh he does...if he doesn't see this i'll send him a PM...
yeah i'm all for the black, i just loved the neck on the one i tried today, great feel with the satin finish and it looked great with a bunch of birdseye!!
to be honest i'm pretty much only after the neck lol, the rest is extra hahaha it's going to get a modern bridge, locking tuners a hotrails in the bridge and sm-2 mini hum in the neck (with new pots) it's just the feel of the neck was right for some reason even though it's MIK...i guess i found a good one. so i'll strip my MIM tele and this tele, combine them, keep the modified black lite ash and sell the MIM with the bridge and pickups out of the lite ash to offset the cost...someone may end up with a pretty cool MIM tele hehe.
i'm still iffy on the idea but it is a strong thought

i own the lite ash tele in black. When i was tele shopping i tried the lite ash, a bunch of highway 1s, some USA standard teles... and decided that i liked the lite ash best out of all the models i played. I haven't moded mine at all.... i think that the APIIs give it a nice tele sound the only thing i may do to it is change out the 3 bridge brass barrells. I know a few people here have said that alot of these guitars where having some kinda neck troubles. I ordered mine from AMS and the neck was perfect on mine... maybe i got lucky.
i forgot what it was, but there was a thread a couple of months ago on the lite ash guitars and someone said to watch out for the quality on these in the long run.
It's true I have one. Though it's been on Seymour's bench for the last six months. He's routing out the neck pickup cavity to drop a mini-humbucker (Firebird) pickup in.
For the money, it's a lot of guitar. It's the wood that makes it. Two piece swamp ash body. Birdseye neck and birdseye fingerboard. C'mon, if this guitar were made in the USA, the body and neck alone would be $500 each.
The biggest place they skimped was in the pots and the switch. But that's easily fixed.
I'm also changing out the bridge saddles to bigger, fatter, vintage brass barrels. I'm a traditionalist in that way.
It's a lot of guitar for the money.
wow i dint know it come in black! it looks awesome in black. I realy dig the maple neck. I havent tried them out but from what evan says it seems liek a good deal guitar.
