Got to screw around in depth today with my Tweed Pro.
Put different power tubes and rectifiers in, biased them up, checked the plate voltages, etc.,.
From what I can tell, the 6V6's worked just fine in this puppy with a lower rated rectifier tube. It was okay, but heck, if you want to run 6V6's you probably ought to just build a deluxe.
The TAD 6L6WGBs were awesome. What a cool tube. I think my favorite combo was the TADs with a good old Mullard 5AR4 rectifier. Very nice combination. Not as much sag as the traditional fender 5U4G, but a bit more headroom and tighter bass. Lots of fun.
Sweet! I really like the sound of overworked 6v6 tubes! Do you know how old that mullard is?
very cool!!
The old mullard rectifier came in my old Fender Pro Reverb (1968) when I bought it along with a pair of old RCA 6L6's. With the way those old rectifiers last, I would not be suprised if it was 35 years old.

They definitely have a fatness that other tubes don't.
