So, here is another tube question. This may sound dumb but as I have said before I'm new to the tube amp world...........
Lets say it is break time at band practice, we are gonna take a ten minute break, should I turn off the amp completely, or just put it on stand by?I just want to know the things to promote long tube life, thanks!

Standby for short breaks. For 30 minutes or longer, just turn it off. No need to put it in Standby when you're done for the night, just turn it off. Some folks believe in going into standby for a few minutes before final power down, but that is unnecessary.

When turning on, let the amp sit in standby at least 20-30 seconds.

Here's the fun part, if the amp is using a 5AR4 rectifier, it's not as critical to wait 30 seconds when you power up. 5AR4's take a bit before they blast the caps with full voltage.

Thanks a lot!
