I just got my Super Distortion II neck pickup to complement my 59trembucker in my bridge in my ssh Fender stratocaster. Do you guys thing I should just go with a standard double fat setup or a hsh setup? I don't know which way I should go. Any advice would be appreciated.

I never used to care for the HSH setup, but as I'm starting to play with more combo's, I'm warming up to it. If you don't mind messing with some wiring, you can get these combo's:

1. neck
2. neck (split) and middle
3. neck and bridge
4. middle and bridge (split)
5. bridge

Its like the best of both worlds. The twin-humbucker sounds, with the Strat notch positions. It just takes a little creative wiring . . . and not all that creative.

I actually have a blender already in my strat so I plan to get it wired like a regular strat. What do you guys recommend to be the single coil between the Super Distortion 2 and 59 trembucker?

1. neck
2. neck (split) and middle
3. middle
4. middle and bridge (split)
5. bridge

Would you guys recommend this hsh setup for me or this one for a HH setup

Position 1. Bridge Pickup with Both Coils in Series,
Position 2. Inside Coils of Bridge and Neck Pickup in Parallel and in Series with Outer Bridge Coil
Position 3. Bridge and Neck Pickups with Each Coil Pair in Series
Position 4. Inside Coils of Bridge and Neck Pickup in Parallel and in Series with Outer Neck Coil
Position 5. Neck Pickup with Both Coils in Series

This is another setup I'm considering, I don't know if this is possible but it's setup this way.

1.bridge
2.inside coils
3.both pickups
4.outside coils
5.neck

I'd actually prefer to have an SSH believe it or not. It would be my quasi-futuristic abstract jazz Strat. Probably a zebra Seth Lover (or Jon-bucker) in the neck with a beefy single in the bridge, Twangbanger or Custom Bridge, and a Fralin or Alnico 2 Pro single coil in the middle.

The Seth Lover or Jon-bucker would be wired up for Spin-A-Split.

I actually got links for the second setup here from : localhost/any of you have experience with these setups here can you tell how they sound or any clips if you guys have any?

Thanks,
David

I prefer two humbuckers, Petrucci wiring please.

Petrucci Wiring

The full humbucker sounds (I don't care for 2 humbuckers together) and very good single coil sound. You can wire it for the outer two coils as well for a more jangly sound.

--EDIT--

For clips, Overture 1928 by Dream Theater gives neck, bridge, and the split sounds nicely. Also on that album, Strange Deja Vu has great split rhythm sounds.

If I go with these wiring setups is it possible to still use my blender I already have wired to neck and bridge pickups?

My HH setup is wired to be

5-jazz
4-Jazz outside coil
3-Jazz outside coil Jb outside coil
2-JB outside coil
1-JB

and i find myself using that 3 position the most, it sounds GREAT for upstrums and chording.
I think the HSH combo is great and can be very very versatile.
