im looking into these amps and wanted to know your opinions.
johnson mellenium 150
line 6 vetta II
Randall R4
peavy JSX
I voted for the jsx - I like it's sounds. It's very solid build and sounds fantastic
the millenium and the vetta are both modelling amps - since you've got a pod xt2 I think you don't need those. the millenium is pretty much J-Station sounding while the vetta is more pod-orientated. nonetheless the vetta is a good amp. I haven't heared much about the randall (nor played it)...
The vetta II is a very good amp if you tweak it right ! I had one but i sold it 2 weeks ago mainly because i didnt use more then 10 % of its options no more. Also it will give you all the effects youll need at the press of a button. And the overall sound is very good i just got bored with it and bought a Hamp;K Triamp which to me is the modeling amp amongst tube amps since it has 6 diferent sounds. And I only bought the effects i used on the Vetta II to go with it.
But if you are good with tweaking sounds youll have a great amp with one.
On the other hand the JSX is a very nice amp , decent clean a very nice crunch channel and a great lead tone to my ears anyway. I dont like the way the amp looks though lol but thats not important really.
Id say if you want all in one and very easy acces to fx go the vetta route.
If you dont mind seperate fx and a little tapdancing once in a while the JSX will be a good amp as well
I use the Vetta II and i love it.The overall sound is great and i can get pretty much any sound i can think of.It's a bit pricey but imo worth it.
go check the JSX man. If I hadn't gotten my krank, I would have gotten one of those. Cleans are pretty cool, the crunch channel is freaking awesome, though the lead channel is a little too bright and gainy for my tastes. Nevertheless, its a great amp.
I've never been into modeling amps too much, takes too much time to fiddle around with the controls and find a good sound. IMO, its better to just plug in, find the sweet spot, and play. The JSX will let you do that.
The JSX is great but considering sound quality and versatility the RM4 is far the best choice of the 4 listed - if you can afford it.
Kudos for Joe anyway For my ears the Vetta is half as good as the JSX with the worst setting and the Johnson is half as good as the Vetta.
id pick the jsx out of those amps, its an amazing amp, im thinking about getting one to go alongside my 5150 when the price is right(second hand), i certainly wouldent get the vetta, theres something i dont like about line 6 amps, the vetta would sound great, probably amazing in the bedroom, and maybe also quite good on record but its a moddeling amp and its just meh... the jsx is in a different league (imo).
I vote the JSX I would totaly buy one if i had the money!

peavy JSXJust a note quot;peavyquot; is spelled like this Peavey
It was a toss-up for me between the JSX and the RM4. I went with the Randall for several reasons:
1. If you're used to playing through a modeling workstation, the RM4 is the only tube amp that will offer you anything close to that amount of flexibility.
2. The JSX has great sounds, but it only has JSX sounds. If you're not totally all about them, you're stuck with them anyway.
I'm pretty fascinated by the Randall, but I've never had the chance to try one. If it's Midi switcheable, that could open up all kinds of possibilities.
I think the problem you'll run into with the Johnson is they don't make them anymore...so if something happens, you might be up sh!ts creek.
Check with Digitech to see if they still service the Johnson line.
My local Mom amp; Pop Shop has one in there...I played it the last time I was in amp; liked it; lotsa cool whatnots that sounded very believeable.
But...I agree with whoever said you already have a POD, why get another modeller?
I will be going to GC sometime this weekend to try out the JSX and comare it to the vetta unless of course I can get the RM4 or the johnson for a good price....
I have played both the vetta and johnson and like them both equally.
still need to play the jsx and the RM4 is impossible to find.....
thank you for all your imput
I have the Vetta II manual and its really freaking amazing, all the features damn the line 6 guys are really working now... i´ve choose the JSX and the Vetta.
The JSX is the best sounding amp i have ever heard...

not that bad of an idea either
If you do try a mesa I would say either an f series or a rectoverb. Both have great cleans, great mesa distortion, and are VERY versitle.
shameless bump

Personally I voted for the JSX in that poll. At Namm it was in the Top % best amps I tried out and ranked in the Top 3 for gainy sounds.
BTW there's a good thing where Joe talks about the JSX in this webcast/interview thing he did, and in there he says the chrome panels are removable! Check it out, it should be near the bottom right where it says, quot;JSX amp profilequot;
from : localhost/concert, too. I should know. I was there.
