Wich should i put in my strat? the trembucker version of the JB or the pther?
I would say the tb4 if your going to put it into the bridge. If you do that all the strings when played have more even volume because the e strings will be centered over the magnets.
That's right. For the bridge, the strings won't align correctly over the poles on an SH4. The TB4 is will.
I think the Trembuckers should be the standard Humbucker spacing.
Actually I think they should just make all humbucking pickups trem spaced and regular because I think trem spacing might work better for fender types and regular is for gibson types.
I've used regular spaced pickups in Fender strats, mostly because that's all I have to use, but when I buy a specific pickup for a Fender or Floyd spaced guitar, I make sure it's a tremspaced. The regular ones still pickup the sound just about as good.
Well think about it. Gibson has been using HB's well before Fender. So it's only fair that regular spaced HB's are the standard.
You would go with the Trembucker (TB-4) for Stratocaster/tremolo spacing. If you don't, you might notice a drop off on the high or low E strings. I noticed it on the high E string, before I switched. Do it correctly the first time, I wish I would've known to ask first...
Lonestar Strats came from the Fender factory with regular spaced humbuckers in the bridge position without a problem. If I were buying a new pickup to install, I suppose I'd prefer a trem spaced, but it wouldn't really matter to me that much......
I always use SH regular humbuckers in all my guitars. Strats, Pauls, etc... To me it's kinda a vintage thing. Humbuckers were designed a certain size and that's how it should be. I can't help but think that, the little extra wire it takes to wrap the bigger bobbins changes the sound. I've found that TB's don't line up exactly either. The SH-1 '59 I have in my main super strat with Floyd, sounds incredible. Technology isn't always better. Keep it old-school!
It's interesting.
I measured the humbuckers in a few Fat Strats today including my Floyd Rose Strat.
And guess what, they all measured 66mm across the length of the pickup, and 54mm from the edge of polepiece to polepiece.
In other words they were not F spaced Trembuckers , they were regular spaced humbuckers.
So even manufactureres don't necessarily use Trem spaced for Strat type guitars.
I've used regular spaced HBs in my Strats w/no problem. However, they were the SD Invader, and the DM X2N, both very powerful pups, which I'm guessing makes spacing less of an issue.
