I'm changing the reverb tubes in the preamp section in my AC30, and suddenly discovered that it was an ECC82 in an ECC81 socket. Will this damage my amp?
I think you should be fine. If I am correct, the ECC81 is either a 12AY7 or a 12AT7. In either case, they are all 12AX7 or (ECC83) type tubes, just with lower gain factors. I don't see any problem.
I tried, and it turned out to be ok...
