Hey guys!
Anyone ever use any of Fralin's humbuckers? A buddy of mine wants to buy one and I thought I'd see what you guys thought about them..
Mike
I think they're great pickups. Very articulate. Maybe the most articulate humbucker available. I love the warmth and vintage vibe of the Duncans...but Lindy's are excellant too and have thier own personality. It's not a paf replica humbucker like the 59, Seth Lover, Antiquity, Pearly Gates, etc. The Fralins use an alnico 4 magnet and a special wind and the resulting tone is ballsy as all get out but not muddy. The Fralins have the tight, big bass of alnico 5, the treble of alnico 5 and the pronounced mids of alnico 2 but with more clarity and articulation. They're very special and excellant sounding humbuckers. He doesn't wind a balls to wall super hot humbucker though...Lindy's HB's are in the 7.5K to 10K range. I love the 7.5K neck and 9.5K bridge model myself. Lew
I've got a 7.5 humbucker in the neck of my quot;Vquot; and it is currently my favorite neck humbucker. Lew's description is dead on.
There's a gentleman here at the forum from time to time by the name of
ARCHER OF FISH who's a major Fralin pup fan who could also steer you in the right direction.
ARCHER OF FISH, where are you?
Thanks guys, good info! Sounds like a really great pup!
