hey im either getting a fender cyclone II or a gibson melody maker i play punk rock blink 182 greenday sounding music and i wanna no what guitar is better?
thanx in advence...peace
Fender cyclones are good for proper punk, not sure about pop punk type of sound. Never tried the gibson but I know cyclones are nice guitars for punk.
Those are both good guitars for the music but if you were to choose between only those 2 ten id go with the melody maker. If you wanted to go with some different guitars I would very highly recommend a Schecter S-1 ( Great for punk by the way, just got one) or a Fender fat strat and put in an invader for the sound your looking for. What is your budget by the way?
im austrailan so our dollar is different but just around the price of those 2 guitars so yeah...
Go with the Strat. Dump a humbucker in it and you'll have the basics!
If you want the new greenday sound then get the melody maker. You should probably try each guitar on the amp your going to use to find the one that has your tone.
for old greenday (up until warning) its the JB in an alder body. the cyclone or jagstang would be the perfect chassis.
for new greenday, yep - it'll be the melody maker

Go for a Fender Fat Strat. It'll do you wonders.

...Another vote for a fender fat strat. You can cover a whole lot more with the fat strat than just punk...
yeah i agree with the fat strat..but since it wasnt on your list, between the cyclone 2 and the melody maker, id go with the cyclone 2. I actually like the regular cyclone more than the 2 since the cyclone 2 is like a watered down strat with a weird switching system. the melody maker wouldnt be as versitile since it only has one pup..although p90s do have a nice sound and that might be all you need but every once in a while its good to get that quot;offquot; sound.
