Im looking for a budget priced good tube overdrive pedal.Yes, we all just LOVE budgets, but i have one to follow while im modding up this squier.
So how is that badmonkey?

I haven't tried the Bad Monkey but my guess is it's Digitech's version of the Ibanez TubeScreamer; very mild overdrive.

Well, im wanting kind of a vintage old fender champ kind of sound.

Is that the pedal for it?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think the bad monkey has tubes...

Nope, no tubes but it is getting very high marks on the LPF, TGP, and BAM. Those are some picky tone dudes so I would bet there is something to it.

The Monkey is a tweaked out tubescreamer type pedal.

Bad Monkey rules!! Seriously, it's a killer OD pedal.

I'll prolly get it after i finsh putting the pup's in my squier.
Roland dont do very good tube overdrive.

i'm not a digitech fan but i have read lots of good reviews of the bad monkey which have tempted me to try one also...heck how bad could it be...it's called the bad monkey, that alone makes it good lol.

I really like mine. It's not a high gain pedal at all...I wouldn't even say it was a medium gain pedal. I think it really excels at the compressed, quot;cleanquot; sustain thing. I hate to say quot;Dumble, quot; but...that's what I always think of whenever I play it with the gain cranked up.

So would it kind of be the sound eric clapton had while recording layla? that clean, but slightly distorted sound?

Clapton used a cranked up BF Fender Champ on most of that stuff didn't he?

I've heard it was an early silverface...but same thing, right?

Yeah...Pretty much..

I picked one up a few weeks ago and was beside myself for a few days about it. It took me a solid week to really get over how great it sounded and into putting it into my setup and really getting using it.

It is a bit like a Tube Screamer but with less mid-range hump on it. The addition of a High and Low makes it attractive in comparison to the Tube Screamers single Tone seelction.

My Spina-modded TS9DX is my quot;desert islandquot; overdrive pedal but the Bad Monkey makes an excellent all-around tool as well. It'll be interesting to see how it stands the test of time.

Thanks for the kind words reagarding your TS9DX brother...The TS9DX has alot more going for it as far as versatile tone selection with it's modes..

Just wondering if the Bad Monkey strips away your lows when you step on it like a stock Tube Screamer or does the bass knob get rid of this problem on the BM? I'm thinking of buying one just to get inside of it and maybe upgrade it much further for $40....I'm reading rave reviews about it from all...

Digitech pedals used to have problems with hiss...How's the noise factor with this pedal?

What Mod is this your talking about? I have a ts9dx and at first never liked it...but with a barber tone press infront of it i'm back to using it in its original ts9 mode and love it for light overdrive/fenderish stuff out of my ashdown. Going to try the trick people say to use a tubescreamer or sd-9 for on a rectoverb if I get it.

Whats the mod do and cost?

By the way, the bad munkey looks like a cool pedal.

If I had a Bad Monkey, I would spank my monkey all the time!!!! If its bad you got to spank it!!

i want one, everyone seems to be kissing that damn monkeys ass
