Hey Fellers,

I have a 57 Les Paul Custom three pickup model and I am basically happy with the neck and the middle pickups. All three units are Gibson 57 Classics. The bridge pickup is a little tinny in my opinion.

Do you think that a Duncan 59 would be a good replacement? I am looking for rounder highs, and a tighter low end however I do not want to ruin the clarity and tone that comes along with a low-output pickup.

Just curious what you guys think. Also, does anyone here know if the 59 comes with a gold cover on it? I don't want to mess up the vintage vibe of my Black Beauty.

you can get a 59 in gold if you wish, and I think it would be fine for what you are talking about...that said, be warmed...after you put a 59 in the bridge, you will quickly put another in the neck and middle as well!

59's are very nice or a set of Pearly Gates.

You won't get round highs out of a pearly gates though. They have a lot of bite. I think the '59 (fairly warm) or A2 Pro Bridge (very warm) is your best bet.

'59s are unbelievably awesome. You won't believe the difference, improvement over the '57 classics. A friend of mine has the 57s in his semi hollow nearly wet himself when he tried my guitar with the '59's
