Hi there, a friend of mine(who I happen to make a lot of music with) is looking for a new guitar to upgrade his absolute pos squire. h-h configuration with a coil split seems like it would suit him best since he wants to quot;a beefy sounding guitar with singing leadsquot; and I think it would be best if it came stock with nice pickups too since he doesn't seem the type to try and replace em(he never even gave his fender a proper set up). I pointed him toward stuff like jackson soloists and esp but you guys can probably give a better opinion than I can. He plays everything from classic rock(with me) to a very ecclectic style of metal. You can hear one of his clips here:
What do you think would suit him? I think he should own something that's an absolute pleasure to play.
Schecter if he's really on a budget, or a used Jackson USA.
Krammer guitars on about 1000$ are really good for singing solos. A lot of virtuosos use them
Check out some carvins. Though, really whats best is gonna be what feels and sounds best to him, so i'd suggest goin and tryin out a few axes.
You could get a really nice Carvin DC127 or SC90 with some options for that price.

My thoughts exactly.
ESP M-II Standard or Urban Camo
Another vote for Schecter
I've had the best luck with Dean guitars.
This USA guitar is usually between $1000-$1100

Dean Hardtail Select - $499. $125, new pups. $625 spent with $375 left for beer, or to go towards a decent apm or effects.

1. It's all relative though. I would have him try a bunch out to get some kind of idea what feels good to him. He's not really gonna know what he likes by just going by that squire he had.
Yeah, that's pretty much what I was trying to tell him- but he said that since he didn't know what to look for he wanted to go in there with an idea of what he wanted. I think he'll find something that suits him, though I actually think the jackson soloist is great recommendation and something I'd love to have myself. Sexy guitar.
